Everytime I read the lastest on the reincarnation of this car, I think that my parents must not have loved me. You're a good dad, and this is awesome for the kids.
(Of course, you could upgrade to a great dad pretty easy... I mean, the nitrous solenoids are right there!)
Remember, the MAIN goal is to keep the boys alive until adulthood (from there on the ball is in their court). So I think BBR is doing this just right, a little bit at a time.
Hooked up the line lock yesterday. Tried doing a burnout on dry pavement. No dice. It wouldn't break the drag radials loose in 2nd and in 1st it just pushed the front tires. lol Needs a little water to help get them going! On a side note, this thing is a blast to drive. It would be even better if I could get rid of the part throttle accel stumble. I think a different accel pump cam may be in order.
We drove it out to Funny Car Chaos at Amarillo Dragway on Saturday. Got to see some really cool cars!
Mustang ran like a top. It is super happy at 62-65 mph on the highway with the afr sitting right at 14.7:1. WOT afr looks ok at 13.2ish. Maybe just tad lean.
We changed accelerator pump cams to the oramge one but we still have a lean stumble if you are cruising at like 1700 rpm and ease into the throttle. If you grab a bunch, it's fine.
Car ran good and water temp was rock solid as was the oil pressure.
Did I mention this thing is a blast to drive?
Today, my wife drove it for the first time since I've owned the car. She said it was noisy. Haha.
I finally checked the timing. It was at 10 degrees. lol I bumped it to 16. Total looks to be 38. Tweaked the idle mixture as well. Those tweaks combined have all but eliminated the stumble. Timing curve seems a bit slow. Seems to ramp progressively. Might switch to a little lighter spring to bring it all in sooner, but not as soon as it originally did. (all in at 1000 rpm) Haha.
Ordered an spare fuel pump, figured out a much better way to route the belt, put some new wipers on it and snagged a set of 275/60 street tires!! I think we are ready!
Yes. Haha. We are in it for the fun, not to win. He is cool with it all. He is just excited to be going. Me too!
We could have gone to the track tonight and made a few test passes, but he is taking the ACT tomorrow morning so we thought it best for him to focus on that.
I am dying to know what it runs. Not expecting it to be fast at all though. 13.99? Whooo hooo!!! 14.99? Mmmmmm okay. 15.99? Bah, where's that darn nitrous bottle at?!?!?
Gotta love last minute discoveries. I went to put the street tires on and found that the drag radials are toast. Boo.
So I guess I will get the slicks mounted up.
Of course, I needed to see if it would do a burnout. Oh yeah, it will.
I also dicovered that my trailer has never had brake lights..... Ever. This is because the car has separate brake lights and turn signals. All the other lights work, but I guess I have never checked for brake lights. Lol.
Haha, I've been using them since 2011! I suppose I got my money's worth. I had hoped they would last through RMRW, but I guess it was not meant to be.
I have another set of 28-10.5's that are at the tire shop right not getting mounted. Not that this car really needs a slick, but I don't want to be "that guy" running street tires when everyone else is running drag tires.
