Haha plug launchers are the early 2v 5.4's. This one has the plugs that won't come out.
Seems Ford went from one extreme to the other.
I'm just going to log some data, turn off the CEL for the locked VCT phasers, play with the timing, electronic throttle feel and trans shifting a little bit. Nothing crazy.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

After just a few tweaks this thing is running really good.
One of my gripes about it has been the fact that at any speed over 65, it would not switch to closed loop...ever. I adjusted the OL threshold, OL delay, and added some timing. Drove it down the highway with a headwind and it stayed CL the whole time. That alone was worth the cost. haha.
The added timing perked it up around town as well and this 5.4 now behaves more like the 4.6 we had in the Mountaineer. Revs easy and quick

After driving it a bit, it still had a little flat spot in low speed, high gear, accel, situations. Like when it probably should downshift, but does not and kind of lulls there for a second. I added a few degrees of timing in that area of the table and the flat spot is gone. The engine just picks up and motors on.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
