Silver sure does hide a lot of sins though
I'm looking forward to after the final buffing probably next weekend. That'll have given the clear a week to cure.
List of to do's for Drag Week:
Install braided fuel lines and a check valve at the fuel rail (quicker starting, looks more tech friendly).
Paint background of the 'Buick' emblems black.
Modify and clean up the set of center caps I have for the rims.
Get the drag radials mounted on rims.
Tweak the fuel and timing tables at WOT and start watching spark plugs. Leaning it out 1.5 points and adding 2* of timing.
And pack up to be ready to go!Escaped on a technicality.Comment

Here is my plan for the wheel center caps. The one I pulled apart was barely legible through the cracked and faded glass. This is just a practice try. I'm going to get some photo paper (this is just regular paper) and then laminate the final prints and do a better job with cutting the UV plexiglass to fit cleanly in the center cap. What do you think?

my thoughts, personally, i would leave the engine stuff off, then space " the silver buick" as if it said " buick motor division"
but that is just me. you are one creative mofo, fo sho!Last edited by 1badmonkey; August 30, 2012, 05:48 PM.CharlesComment

If the center caps are the only thing giving it away, I'm not doing enoughOriginally posted by mlcraven View PostThe one on the left kind of announces what you're bringing to the gun fight...if that's your intention then OK.
The car kinda lopes and is kinda loud too.
"The Silver Buick" isn't long enough to look right going the whole circumference, the spacing would look funky. Also Thanks!Escaped on a technicality.Comment

That would be very cool. And, subtle. The center caps are the last thing people would notice the engine size. Ky Caprice has nice sized 454 emblems on the fenders and I constantly get asked whats under the hood. People are blind.Originally posted by TheSilverBuick View PostHere is my plan for the wheel center caps. The one I pulled apart was barely legible through the cracked and faded glass. I think that is because of all the people with a 305 under the hood and something else on the fender. Had a friend in w/ a 69 camero it had 350 on the fender so far under the hood has been a 305 350 396 454 oh its really not a SS either.Originally posted by Scott Liggett View PostThat would be very cool. I'm not a lover of personalized license plates or wheel centre caps , personaly I'd stick with the stock caps . Just me .Comment

I like the custom wheel caps, I would change the font of SFI Buick 455 to look more like the orignal cap. make SFI black, and flip them up sided down so the words read in a circle. I think just changing the red to black most ppl will not notice.Comment
