well, after I replaced the fragged bolt in question I noticed another odd vibration. I knew it was not front end related as I went over all of it and it was all in good repair.

I told him to take the tires and get them balanced but because he has been working 16hr days he has not had time up until just a day or two ago. He called me and said that one of the tires had a leak and he was going to take it in and on his way the whole tread came off one of the rear tires. The tire shop gave him a new one (just purchased them there) and he was on his way. All the vibes and wiggles are gone now...Sunday the lower radiator hose blew out on him. I spent 3 hours on the side of the road fixing that freaking nightmare. there is a short hose off the pump to a block behind the oil filter...looks to be a heat exchanger but I dunno. then another hose off that block to the radiator. holy mother of a PITA! that llittle hose fought me tooth and nail. I whooped its ass and have the scars to prove it...bruises and cuts all over the place..one would think changing a hose would be easy...not on a V8 Exploder!

You're a good Dad Joe. The oil cooler is a great thing out in the desert where you are, but that 5.0 sure is a tight fit in those things.
There's always something new to learn.

I can say one thing...that 5.0 is a bullet proof freaking motor if properly cared for. It is just shy of 200K and it still runs like a bear and doesnt burn oil, I can see why guys like them so much. The rest of the truck is suspect, but man..the motor is tight as a drum.

Never messed with one in an Explorer but my 89 (with explorer motor) still has the oil cooler. The cooler comes off buy removeing the one bolt that goes into the block. Don't know if you could have gotten it out but it might have helped when replacing the hoses. I think you sould put headers and beecam in it!

While laying underneath on the shoulder of the road you should have posted up a help question Joe.
