Yea - disposable gloves then mechanics gloves will be the order of the day in the shop for sure. I should have been wearing mechanics gloves when it happened - probably still would have gotten cut - just not as deep.

I did my part to support one of our sponsors - just ordered up a pair of cherry bomb turbo mufflers - they're the only narrow body turbo's I could find 7 3/4" wide, most turbo style mufflers are 9-10" wide. With the frame connectors and relocated leaf springs, the muffler area under the raised part of the floor under the back seat is getting used up fast.
I'm going to try out Summit's $89 x pipe kit and probably just run dumps for now - I want tail pipes - but there will be no time for that before drag week!

The ET Streets are here 27x10.5x15 (tread actually measures 9")
the tread pictured on the summit site doesn't match what I have.... these baby's are slicks with a DOT code pure and simple - I'll be packing a pair of road tires and wheels for DW for sure, the last thing I need to do is total the car in the rain a week after I get it on the road!

hey, if ya get a chance, can you post a pic of the tread?

      Here's the "tread".

Unfortunately - those cool vintage slots have porosity issues, the one I had the tire mounted on leaks air through the rim even after putting on layer of aluminum puddy where the leaks were I could see.....
so - I blew the budget and ordered 2 summit brand 5 spoke torque thrust knock offs which look similar to the 5spoke huslters that I will be running on the front - and have 4 of - so I will put some kind of all season radial on the back in a 235 - 60 ish size maybe a 225 - 70 the Huslter wheels are only 6" wide.

did you also use putty? or are we chanelling tweety today (I taught I taw a puddy tat fame)

your local tire dealer probably has the rubberized stuff they paint on rims (you know, the stuff designed to seal rims )

all that grief given, still, I like torque thrust rims a lot

puddy, putty, whatever you guys call it - anyway - I thought I was dealing with a few square inch area - I spread it out to probably cover more like 10 square inches, and it still leaks, and they are unilugs - maybe they are destined to be hose reels.

As for the total - with the the new pair of wheels ($116 each on sale) and the ET streets at ~$200 each, plus the $1100 AC system - I'm past the $5k mark and probably past the $6k mark if I include all the incidentals.

You forgot to calculate in the decline in purchasing power of the dollar since the start of your project.

With that factored in you are still under budget according to my numbers...... in fact, you still have $1800 to go.

Finger throbbing good today? Looked like some good stichwork from here.

indeed.... and I'm still working with some big pieces that were "Free" since I already had them, namely most of the power train.

The AOD is done - there was a problem with the governor - hopefully that is the end of the problems with that trans!

Using the neosporin with pain reliever mixed in is helping - doc also put me on antibiotics for 10 days to hold off any infections.

Got the trans tunnel welded last night, and did lots of finish up welding in the wheel wells and rear frame rails.

my smashed finger, they put me on antibiotics - that stuff messed my insides up but good, made me consider getting an infection as relief from the antibiotics

Keflex is about the only one I can take - so far so good, but they gave me the full 10 day course.

gotcha, theres the difference- you got yourself a pair of the bias ply et streets... the other tread is a radial.
that slot wheel is kick ass enough to run a tube....

The radial is the choice I was presented with originally - 235/60 or 275/60.... time will tell. I had a friend order these to his tire shop so I'm sort of stuck with them. I'm sure the traction will be worth it. I've heard lots of guys say good things about how well these hook.

I use ET Streets on my Mustang. They hook pretty good if you heat them up. My best 60' is 1.58.
