because gauge sets are 200+ anyway! What kind of gauges are in there?
Since you have to match these things, I'm guessing the Flexplate *AND* Balancer were both 28's ? It's not uncommon to see a stroker go 28oz imbalance from what I've seen, but an HO crank kind of surprises me.Last edited by Beagle; May 22, 2012, 12:00 PM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.Comment

x2 undercoating is your friend. Or is this a 5k show car with chromed axles?Originally posted by pintoboy77 View PostMilner I don't weld my floor pans on the bottom I seam seal along the edge and smooth it out real nice and by the time I undercoat it you can't tell you even put new ones in. If it don't go - Chrome it!
no chrome here.
As I was starting to get the next part of the sub frame connectors put in - starting at the relocated front leaf spring pockets - the welder started acting up - CRAP! out of gas. Bottle is in the car - hope to get it refilled at lunch or after work.
28 ounce 164 tooth flywheel is an off the shelf part - $45ish. Need to follow up with the crank machine shop about the balancer. There's always something new to learn.Comment

What are you using for a transmission again? Are you using a C4 trans with the 302? If so I think you want the 157 tooth flexplate.Comment

Rocket - 164 is correct for AOD.
The crank balancer assured me that the way he set it up - 50oz balancer and 28oz flex plate is the best way to run with the lighter pistons - and it required minimum material removal from the crank while still using off the shelf bolt on parts. He's been doing this a long time - so I'll go with it.
Got one frame connector completed - had to pie cut and bend the rear section to follow the shape of the rear floor, then add a 1 1/2 square tube to fill the gap.
I still need to run 3/4 square tube down the rocker flange, then tie it to the subframes in several places - these cars didn't have factory torque boxes up front so this type of reinforcement (added in '64) should help.
