now you see the motivation.... but the hardest part is finding something that is absolutely done.... lots of friends with their imports have broke transmissions; but most of them are easy enough to fix.... the best would be the remenants of a t-56 or a 4T65 that jungles when you rattle it....

There is a u-pull-it LKQ near by they charge a core on EVERYTHING $2 core on a $15 switch. I think they do it get more money out of you I bet a lot of people don't bring the stuff back.

the core charge is for the 6 speed transmission - what's interesting about it is they don't care what kind of transmission they get back - just that it's made in the same year or newer...

the rear axle is a totally different deal..... and I think it's been answered - that it's the same as a 28 spline 8.8, which I know I can buy narrower.... which will determine the exact narrowing dimension.

does the trans have to be RWD and a manual

if not find soem one with a V8 W-body (lacross, monte, impala, GP GXP) pretty sure they would know some one with a blown up trans.

that's the funniest part - it only has to be a transmission that was put in cars at the factory in 2006... rwd, fwd, awd - doesn't matter... at or mt not either.... it doesn't even have to travel from Seattle and does not have to go to the LKQ in Florida.

well, LKQ agreed to credit me the shipping back - which leaves a $150 core charge.... which I can live with since I didn't spend much for this transmission (comparatively) ... I'd certainly suggest talking to them for parts, especially if you live in a place where the mold makes people think their crap is really solid gold.

And the motor is gone.... sold today.... budget is looking good on this car (less than 5k total spent)

Well, got more work done.... working to create a big enough hole for the motor.
                          the first hole

                          now with motor

                          large hole

                          not big enough

I figure I have 12" I can move the motor back - and it's back about 9" now..... custom headers are going to be required - I was hoping to get away with flipping the passenger side manifold; but it doesn't look like that's going to work - oh well... part of the fun

both - up to 2006, MPI, after 2006, direct injection.... I went with MPI because I wanted to turbo it, and I've not found DI, higher flow injectors...

got a bit more done tonight

                              alternator hits frame

                              and hood doesn't yet close

more tricks up my sleeve to get it under the hood - although, it'd kind of be cool to put a firehawk scoop on the hood.....
