Hi everyone, New guy here. My wife and I will be going on the PT for the first time this year and really looking forward to it. My wife Angela and I got hooked when it rolled through Muskegon this last year. We live 18 miles north of Muskegon in Whitehall, MI so if there is anyone close by send a shout out and we can get together sometime as I can use all the information I can get.

I have a 1970 Mercury Montego MX that we will be taking on the tour for the Long Haul.

First question is what is this "Pledging the Long Hauler" regerstration? What is the difference between this and the regular "Detroit" Registration?

139...welcome aboard there 180ACK. I'm a newbie too, only been on here 6 months but find the site interesting and informative. I was a first time long hauler last year an had a blast in Muskegon. As a matter of fact I stayed at a lake resort in Whitehall with a few other Power Tourers. As for as the "Pledge" I not sure so just go to Hot Rod website and sign up as a long hauler and you'll be fine. Looking forward to meeting you and your wife this June.

I took a look at the registration, I'm not going this year but it looks like they raised the prices for the individual cities from $25 or $35 to $80. Some people can only do 1 but more than likely 2 or 3 cities so they can sign up where they are going start.
Being a Long Hauler will give you access to some Long Hauler events, like that last day (last year they only allowed Long Haulers" into the GM proving grounds). They others (non Long Haulers) were turned away. You will get a Long Hauler card that gets stamped at every venue to get the special gift at the LH awards.
In 2010 they did not enforce it and a bunch of non long hauling people showed up and it was not as special.
Sooo for you I would get the "Pledging the Long Hauler"
Hopefully this will make sense.

I know it was allot to digest on my first Long Haul in 2010, but the BangShift folks helped explain all this stuff to me on my first trip.
We usually have the T-shirts or the hat and everyone will help you, just go up and ask.
