DG were talking such things. Like maybe a 4BT turbo in a pickup. Maybe even one of our company's industrial engines.

Sean and I like the S-Dime idea... inexpensive, easy to get parts for, and easy to swap engines when the time comes!

commuting only 50 miles a week does not leave much room for saving money by increasing mpg if you doubled you mpg you how much would you save, $500 a year? . How often do you go to Omaha? The older I get more I care about comfort on long trips, if I am going to be in the car for seven hours I want to enjoy it and not hurt when I get there. A 4BT would be nice and I sure you can get late model seats to put in whatever truck youchose. I like the seats in our 2005 suburban.

Most '60 Corvairs had the gas heater option. Works great when tuned up. Instant heat. The gas heater was phased out with the engine air heater. A fan grabbed the air after it was heated by the engine and blew it into the cabin. Not as effective and the heated air frequently had fumes from leaking oil.

Corvair parts, especially early model parts, are frequently unique and expensive. For a car that sells for 1/3 the price of a Mustang, the parts cost about 3X as much.

Tonight, I went around some slow ass girly busy texting instead of driving. I hammered the gas, the downshift switch worked, car downshifting from third to first, the engine revved, and I did not accelerate. WTH? So, when I got to my neighborhood, in cop land, I stopped on the highway, put it in first manually and hammered the gas. The car went somewhere it hasn't been in a very long time, north of 5000 rpm. Manually shifted to second, tires chirp, revved to 4500 rpm, shifted to drive. Calmly drove away.

I haven't ever thought about the TH400 in the car really. It has always worked. Never really beat on this car. It's just my driver. Wondering if the trans is starting to go.

Check the fluid level? My Centurion behaves that way sometimes.
                Escaped on a technicality.

Maybe. The trans in my 04 Isuzu Ascender ( think Chevy Trailblazer), just took a dump. With the new 4L65 it seems like gas mileage went up a mile or two per gallon. I put about at least 1200 a month on it and it sits 5 days a week! For a while I was doing $600 a month in gas

BTW, I hear after labor day gas is suppose to go down to about $3 a gallon due to the increase of crude in the US of A.

Not too far behind you. Keeping my fingers crossed for lower prices at the pump and the check is in the mail. We'll see.

Why this time. I went back 4 pages before asking, maybe I'm partially blind at this hour.

Same problem I have had before. Leaky rear main seal, which may not be fixable at this point, but it doesn't much. But, more important is the lifters bleeding off badly once the engine warms up.
