interesting, we've had them in some late models, never had any trouble. Oldest ones are about 16 years old. ie wife's 99 prowler, and the 99 silverado she gave to the kid a few years ago, which has over 260k miles on it in the arizona heat.

The 283 transplant is coming along nicely, almost ready to see if it will fire.

well, it fired, but won't stay running. Fuel pump seems to not be pumping.

The '55 must be wondering what happened to it. "I used to have SO MUCH power......" Or it's having flashbacks to when it was new. "I remember right after I left the factory......."

Looks good! The 55 is too nice to not be able to drive.

been doing a few more little things, put a tach in it, removed the line loc, connected the cruise control. Seems to want to blow some blue smoke when I start it up, guess I should have put valve stem O rings on it while it was on the stand, oh well. Runs and drives pretty well.

Same switch pitch 400 that I put in it when I removed the blower, spring 2014.

I swapped in some 3.00 gears, removed the locker. So it doesn't click around corners now. And it has a bit more go fast acceleration. Still nice on the highway at speed, too.

Wait, you had a 427 with a single carb and the 283 has bit more acceleration?
