Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!
"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake." -
I need a laugh. I'm losing another friend. Carl lives in my building and is a car guy like me, but he is moving back to Vancouver area to take care of his ailing parents. He needs to get their affairs in order in case one or both in up in a care facility. I totally understand the reasons, but can't help be upset for my own selfish reasons. I guess I have been spoiled having good friends, Bill and Carl, living right next door where I can go and hang out. With my work schedule, I wouldn't been able to see them as much if I had to drive to see them.
Carl keeps saying he's only going up there for a year or two max; then he is moving back to LA permanently; but like many of his friends, it feels more permanent than that.Last edited by Scott Liggett; July 19, 2011, 07:57 AM.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Silverbuick, lets weigh the choices...
1) Huge heavy engine a day away
2) Pretty Girl who seems to like you
If the engine finds out you opted for Pretty Girl it will have no hard feelings, however if Pretty Girl finds out you opted for engine... well you get the picture.
What really needs to happen is tour with Pretty Girl, then roadtrip with Pretty Girl to go pick up engine, maybe there is a nice restaurant there?

Dude! A cute girl wants you to ride with her while she cruises secluded roads at a mine? They make adult movies with plot lines like that...I think.
The motor can wait a week.
That which you manifest is before you.Comment

Well about a month ago, I met this kid with an early 60's Chevy truck, he was a friend of one of my tenants cousins, a really cool kid that was into hotrods......We talked about his truck and what he was going to do to it and I told him if he had any questions I was more than happy to help him out.......Then the sad news came yesterday, apparently he got in a fight with one of his best friends, his friend pulled a gun and shot him in the head and then after realizing what he did, the kid that shot him shot himself(yes they are both dead)........I really didn't know the kid that shot him, but it will be sad that I won't be able to help this kid with his truck......I'm really bummed today.........Comment

ever been really hungry and really lazy at the same time... so lazy in fact that the lazy is preventing you from getting off your rump and making a sammich to quite you raging hunger? I would rather starve right now than to go into the kitchen...that's a lot of lazy.If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark DonohueComment

Bummer Scott, I know the feeling, it was like when I moved to Ely. It's going to be that way again for me when our project this year ends and the Canadian geologists go back to Canada. It's been a fun summer, but I see it ending in September =/
As for the rest of ya'll! Just got home from the three or four hours of cruising around the mine site with a pretty environmental engineer. Now for phase two, pretty environmental engineer went with me to drop the engine off at the machine shop, now to try and convince her to go with me to pick it up!
I think she'll believe me this time when I say we won't break down

I get that way often. I go through a lot of cheez-its, chips and goldfish crackers for that reason.Originally posted by JOES66FURY2 View Postever been really hungry and really lazy at the same time... so lazy in fact that the lazy is preventing you from getting off your rump and making a sammich to quite you raging hunger? Damn dude, thats a effed up story. The truck was sweet all original and low miles like my GMC, it was even kind of the same story as mine, where he got it from his neighbor that he grew up next to.......The kid was only like 19 or 20..........It's just sad.......Originally posted by JOES66FURY2 View PostDamn dude, thats a effed up story. We had a something go down at work some years ago...there was a kid who was driving down the road. He was reportedly speeding at the time he hit a pedestrian on a bike. The pedestrian was crossing in a dark area and there was no crosswalk and was riding across the street. The driver hit him and severed the guys head, the pedestrians head landed on the lap of the passenger. The driver was so freaked out that he ran home (just a few blocks away) and hid in his closet. Then shot himself with the shotgun that was in said closet. Reports later came out that the pedestrian was high on heroin, was crossing illegal and had just been released from prison. Had the kid not reacted so quickly and violently he would have not been charged with any crime and would have received counseling to deal with the PTSD....If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark DonohueComment
