  • What does everyone drive on the HRPT?

So being a Newbie, I’m curious. What does everyone drive for the HRPT? I have a ‘87 Chevy C10 SWB Stepside I am working on right now. My true passion is my ‘58 Apache Stepside I plan on completely modernizing after I retire this year.

Being honest......is there anything that is frowned upon or considered not appropriate to drive on the tour?

    Thanks,
    Fred

Rumor has it that rental cars are frowned on.
Personally, I prefer old over new but you will see a large contingent of the newer retro muscle cars.

In all seriousness, drive whatever you feel like. I used to drive a newer (2002) truck but now I'm driving an old car. Someday, I hope to bring my really old car.

We have been driving a '68 Camaro convertible. This year we plan to drive a '65 Chevelle station wagon (patina). As the guys in the previous post have said anything goes. I have seen young families in 4 door Cadillacs that are more hot rod than our so called muscle cars.

I've driven my 71 Vette, 09 Jeep Rubicon, last few years my 11 SS Camaro. This year if it's ready my latest acquisition a 68 Impala custom. Lot's of times you'll see in people's windows plan B, C, and sometimes D. Main thing come on and join the fun, believe me you will have fun no matter what you drive.

I have a 2008 Charger but hope to someday make at least part of a trip in my 71 el camino. It broke down on the way to the tour in 2012 and is waiting for redemption. The 200 4r quit in Joplin. Best guess the converter let go. Never knew for sure. May try OD again at some point. I have a true trac for the 12 bolt. I got it in May and its still in the trunk of my car. I put a fitech tbi on it just before last year's tour after replacing the crank that had bad bearings that kept it off the tour the year before. Its always something.

Yeah, that way when one of us breaks down or anything else you can give us a ride.
