Went to Famoso this weekend for TnT and Summit Series bracket race. Tighter converter, leaf spring sliders, relocated shocks, new cooling and charging system and I have a bracket car suddenly. Dead hooks every pass, 9.91 & 9.89 yesterday, 9.83 & 9.85 this morning, 9.891 on a 9.89 dial round 1 in afternoon with red bulb, got a little excited -.013.

I can finally focus on chassis and engine tune again, completely amazing. Now to get the 60 ft.s back in the 1.40's and hopefully 1.30's and the ET's a bit lower. And more MPH. And a pony.

James, I didn't say whether I was spraying already and given my 50/50 track record of finishing vs. DNF you have nothing to worry about in any event.

Haven't lit up a slick since 1994 and already been bit by the speed bug........need to get it together before I max out the plastic on "go a little faster" parts. E-Bay is an addiction. Good thing I will have more shop time come May 25th.
Drag Week 2012 (wet paint and no transmission but finished) Drag Week 2013 Daily Driver finished in middle of pack (again) Drag Week 2014 #56 of 126 Daily Drivers. (getting closer to the 32)

Well, the state of disrepair has risen again as the tranny has to come out. It was showing hotter than normal temps after each pass at Famoso, but today clinched it as it hit 200 just loafing back from Donut Derelicts this morning. I can't bitch as its been bullet proof for five years since it was rebuilt for DW '07. Time flies. And I was going to pull the converter anyway and add back about 500 RPM in stall speed so I feel better. Yeah right.

I just need to set the end play of the roller cam, install the timing cover and oil pan, and the short block is done. All the other parts are now here.
Why think when you can be doing something fruitful?

Loaded up my tool box on the DW trailer and headed out to the track.

Made 3 semi ugly passes but the thing went down the track and came home under it's own power. HUGE win in my books.

1st pass: Spins hard in 1, pull 2 spin, pull 3 and then wag the rear end halfway down the track, tire smoke, etc. I was in 3 at about the 60' mark. haha 12.80 @ 121. It was like driving a 1 speed. 2.24 60'

                                2nd pass: Decide to launch in 2nd. 1.94 60' pull 3rd pretty early again. 11.867 @ 122.3 haha

3rd pass: Go back to a 1st gear launch. I try to take it a little easier at the initial hit. It goes 11.866 @ 122.5 2.10 60'

Bracket car regardless of the 60'! haha DA was 5700' last night. Tires were at 16lbs. Throttle response on this thing at the hit is insane. Very fun.

Overall a very successful trip. Car made passes, didn't puke, barf, burp overheat, detonate or catch on fire. Very very happy with it right now. Just need to make some chassis changes to get it to hook mainly in the area of front ride height. I think the nose is just really too low for any sort of good weight transfer. I will correct that soon and got some helpful set up tips from some of my friends at the track last night.

122.5mph in Amarillo makes my manly bits all tingly. haha
