And just like that, we have a shifter too! This is a $30 eBay special. Having killed one T5 in my past by hammering 3rd, I felt it was a good idea to get a shifter with the built-in stops. Some guys claim they do not help, but I'd rather err on the safe side! The shifter handle is a little 'drifty' looking for my tastes, but Jake seems to like it.....

Busy busy busy weekend but we managed to squeeze in some work. We moved the engine to the back set of k-member mount slots. This will hopefully allow us to use the driveshaft I already have and opens up some room by the header and steering shaft.
The transmission mount was already at the back of the slots in the cross member so we needed to slide the cross member back on the tubes. The problem with that was that the tubes were in really bad shape. One side had big rust holes in the middle. It probably would have been ok, but there was no way to re-use them. Luckily, the tubes are the same OD as some roll cage tubing pieces I had in the scrap pile. I cut the old tubes out and made new ones. Then I slipped it in the car, marked where they needed to be and welded them in place.
Just another step un-modifying stuff I had to modify to fit the BBF!

Saturday was one of those days where I did what I *should* do rather than what I *wanted* to do. The "should do" consisted of reclaiming the garage space that has been a disaster zone since Jake and Judd started tearing the 302 apart last summer.
I really did a lot more cleaning than I intended but it had a nice side effect......
I found my clutch pedal. lol I had pretty much decided that I threw it away many years ago, but there it was, hiding under a tool box that I had to move.

Be sure to give the prodigal clutch pedal a snap ring and kill the fatted C6 for it . . . and watch out for that jealous older 460 . . . .
(Yes, these jokes aren't as good as SBG's . . . . )
Do kids nowadays even know what a clutch pedal is?

Know? Yes.
How to use? Debatable.
Hopefully this will help to distinguish them somewhat from the hordes of appliance driving snowflakes that seem to populate our schools these days.

My dad: "What in the hell do you get out of it"
While putting in compression and solid lifter cam in my first 57...
Gave him a ride in my current 57... Rowing hard...
Dad: "Nice.. Fast.. ####ing stupid"
I always had to fix his stuff...

Picked up a power brake master cylinder for $12 on Rockauto. So I guess we will be going back to power brakes! I never adjusted the brake pedal stud so all we have to do is bolt in the booster and mc and then hook up the lines.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Good weekend! Saturday, Jake put the shifter in and started reassembling the interior while I worked on the Jeep's exhaust. (ditched stock 1995 muffler and tailpipe and welded up a new chambered muffler and built a new tailpipe).
Sunday, Judd and I pulled the 3.90/spooled 8.8 and got the 3.55/TracLok 8.8 hung under there. We didn't have time to finish, but that should not take too long. As we were wallowing on the floor, Jake tackled removing the manual brake master cylinder/adapter and then nstalled the power booster and the new power brake master.
Fun times with my guys! I love having boys this age!!!
