  • Ramp truck

I got some more done to the ramp today. The exhaust was only held by 2 studs to the manifolds so I had a extra set with good stud's. I started taking them off the other night after work but it got dark and then it turned cold so I just waited until today. Got both old ones off and I tapped all the holes. The passenger side is back on and the exhaust back up. Drivers side is ready to go on tomorrow morning. While getting the passenger side off I broke a plug off so I did a whole new set of spark plugs. Hopefully by next weekend I'll have the new front tires on and the tilt column installed.

Well I got the manifolds all back on and took the valve covers off to straighten them out and install new gaskets. While at it I added 2-6 volt batteries to the winch for power. Hope to have it wired up to the truck battery by the end of the weekend.

Is that a Harbor Freight wench - er, winch? I've looked at those for the car trailer but I'm unsure if they're any good. Thanks for being the Guinea pig (assuming it IS a HF).

Yes it is a H/F. I got the remote with it also. It runs good so far but haven't pulled anything with it.

I got the valve covers installed and sealed up good I hope. Got the custom chopper's loaded and ready for Car's & Coffee Saturday morning.

Our's was the same winch set up on a reciever. The tabs where the rods go across the drum are fragile..
We use a chain hook instead of a slider hook..
Loop a small chain and hook on..

Ok so here is what I did.

Ran cable from truck battery to 12 volt contactor. It operates on 12 volts and is good for 400amp cont use. Then from there to 2-6 volt batteries. I ran the ground back under the truck to the frame mounted bed. I ran a lighted switch to the dash to turn the charge on/off. Just need a 12 volt gauge to keep a eye on it when charging.

Adding air to the ramp now and working on the tilt wheel for it. I got the tank and compressor ready to mount and hoses all done. Need a relay wired and it will be good.
The tilt needs some work: Shave the bowl of the indicator and shifter and fill and weld up the movement of the bowl so it can't rotate. Then paint it. Make it into a straight drive tilt.

Grinded the column tonight got the shift tube locked down with 2 screws where the neutral safety switch went. Now to weld body fill and sand it!

Air tank & compressor installed and running. It's holding 115PSI of air. I have a 90-120 switch on it to cut it on/off. I tied into the battery charger switch off the contactor. It want come on unless I'm charging the 2-6 volt batteries. I put 40 amp circuit breaker in line with the hot wire. I got about 25' of hose so shouldn' have a problem get air on the side of the road.

Looking good. Going to run an inverter so you can have 110V, or better, as well? Or do you already have a generator?

Nope not yet. I have a portable one at the house but haven't thought about it really.
I got some primmer on the tilt wheel column.
