You're only as old as you choose.

I saw a Tucson drag racing legend a couple weeks ago....he's looking kind of like that, yet he was driving his mopar powered 34 sedan during the day, and his SBF powered 34 coupe at night, and having fun.

Phil is killing me with visions of the frail old man climbing into the funny-car-caged racecar. Anyone who's seen him drive either purple car knows there's at least 130 years of life left in him!
      I can't wait!

There is no doubt that at some point in the near future the preverbal "wild hair" will show up somewhere and noise will be made, something will go fast and likely something will eventually break (either parts or bones, you never know).

Phil's car is totally insane. We saw him pull the wheelstand of the meet at the NHRR twice in the same friggin' run! It hammered down so hard it broke the spindle and Phil still managed to load the thing himself into the trailer. I was so impressed, I fell off the scaffolding.

You mean it wasn't on the dry hops Phil? My old age has caused me to wear noise canceling headphones when I was driving the car to Bakersfield with amazingly loud Mganflows on it cause it might run a tenth faster. I have the noise canceling headphones to try and save my hearing on those damn noisy regional jets I end up all the time for work.

Despite all this prevention our little garage band learned the James Gang's Walk Away today and some how it got loud. Oops.

I'm sore from pulling the tranny out from under the car, I still don't have a lift, and then pulling the motor in the pick up with the cherry picker to get the short block um, refreshed and then pushing the car out nd up the alley and back so we could practice our bad versions of popular songs. Gonna make another DW I hope.

Not dead yet, but we did sit at an F100 little show last weekend in our lawn chairs smokin' cigars, enjoying adult beverages and the scenery that was walking by.

              Not dead yet.

Man..im nearly 45 now,and this thread got me 30 years older...at least. We arent old if we play and havin fun..this is what i did 2 weeks ago...can this be like"driving the wheels off"..??

If we feel old, then we gotta do something wild.Remember...we only live once, and if we live twice...have fun the other time too.

I really dig Grumpys wild attitude with his car,and i thought the US was full of those kind of men..

I linked this vid some weeks ago..its Erik Berger..he is 85 years old,and still knows how to race.He drives the purple Escort.Jump forward to the 3;30 mark in the vid..

Oh...this thread has alot of common sense..we are gettin older sure enough..its just the way we will do it.
