  • Engine Runs.....Speedometer Works.....And Now.....

My freekinī turn signals are giving me grief....

Engine has to be running, left turn soooo slow,
    right turn slower.
Turn on the headlights and the turn indicators just come on and stay on,
    lefty and righty.

I hate investigating electrically things, so Iīll start at the bulbs and sockets and work back to the
    switch on the steering column.

When I did the speedometer cable I saw the printed circuit on the back of the instrument pod was a bit iffy so
thatīs getting replaced with a new one from http://www.hawksmotorsports.com/

Sounds like a grounding problem, while your checking bulbs etc., check all the ground wires where they have terminals and screw to the body metal. Where to start anyhow.

All the bulbs and connectors checked out okay...

I took out the "made in Taiwan, heavy duty " flasher canister under the dash and
installed a "made in China" flasher canister.

Now I have turn signals, all four corners, but for them to work properly the
        motor has to be running.

Iīve ordered a solid state flasher canister, supposed to be better.....

Motor has to be running.........or just the key on?
Seems every time I had this issue it was in the steering column harness
Hope you get it all worked out

Battery is good, starts car no problem.
When a car has cranked and the battery is topped up
itīs the alternator that provides the electrical power.
Iīve got a Powermaster 140amp alternator, voltmeter always shows 14.5.

I guess what I should've said..........have you checked to see if you have power at fuse box (with just key on) for flashers....turn lamps?

Sometimes the emergency flashers need to be turned on-off a few times to clean contacts.
Has happened on cars we got to strip cuz turn signals would not work.. Worth a try anyways even tho it "should" not matter..

                      The emergency flashers work okay.
I'll do an on/off cycle just to see......

Me too, go Malc go! But electrical issues can't be any worse than vacuum issues.
