  • Rover in China going up stairs

Commercial gets a lot of play.
    Two questions.
Does it look like it bottoms out at the top?
What are the wires for seen in some of the climb shots and at the top?

I've seen the ad once but not enough to notice what you mentioned. I'll examine it more closely the next time.

I'm guessing the cables are some sort of safety device to keep it from rolling all. the. way. to the bottom in the event of a failure.

Saw the same thing and had the same questions, I too think the cables might be for safety but who knows.

I've seen it, I was more impressed when my friend Dave rode his Yamaha TT600 up the stairs, thorough the front door of our apartment and parked it in his bedroom 20 years ago.
Just groovin' to my own tune.

When we developed the Jeep, some GI's drove one up the stairs of the Capitol building ... an old advertising gimmick.

Yep, like the really old Ford pickup commercial where it was pulling a few boxcars. That's easily done, but it's a great visual.

              Here's the Rover footage.

Dunno.. Gary rode his bike over a 5-6 foot log..
I come up behind him just in time to see his rear tire disappear over the top..
Bless his heart, he climbed over and rode mine over... Saved us a 5 mile roundabout in the falling darkness

I suppose the cables wer to keep from damaging the stairway.
