12 Years is a long time.
I would guess there are vehicles that have say much longer than that.
But that doesn't change the fact that a dozen years is a long time.
What do you do with an EFI car that sat? Is the electric fuel pump now filled with the tarnished fuel?
      Same for injectors and regulators?
Bringing a 1920/30's vehicle back to life might be easier.
How old is this thing that sat for 12 years?

          the big yellow tonka.
that is what I had when I was a very small kid.
          all metal, dangerous.. a killer.

I have had a tin can subaru for 12 years.
it turned 20 when I bought it.

figured a unique antique project...and that is what it became.

I post on facebook/craigslist once and aqwhile.

this time got an offer for a 2.5L ix series bmw.
          bosch troubled injection.

I may take him up on the offer.
I'll slap a rochester monojet on it, call it good.

the subaru was 500 dollars, ready for junk when I took it in.
never figured I'd be turning away 800 cash or bmws etc.

the rarest engine, a one off spec clutch.. french wheels, oh my.
Still not ready to sell yet.
          haven't even had fun yet.

oh thanks awfully. You know you're old when you talk about starting a car that has been sitting for 20 years, and you remember the last time you drove it in excruciatingly painful detail, but you can't remember what you had for breakfast.

You are not old yet... I have a son that is wanting to build an engine with a carb and standard ignition so he can learn tuning from the old man...all while I learn HP Tuners from him....12 years is the blink of an eye...

                Beags gets it.

what's even worse from that video - that Tonka truck is worth more then the truck they started.... and it even gets worse, I remember playing with a new one then thinking "I wonder if I could get it for less then $500"

We had a garage fire back in 77... lost all of my toy trucks and tractors... structo, tonka, nylint, buddy-l and ertl... would've been a fortune... at the time I was more upset about my dad's tools and the air compressor...

Gotta laugh when my kid buys a Sidekick for a farm toy. Hauls the kids around. Says my 77 been sitting too long to start.. Add a battery, gas in the carb and vrooom...

Hell, Sonny! When I was your age...... The first time I heard myself saying those word (or close to it) I thought "Over the hill.) Now I say in when I'm teasing - or not. I can remember when a new Electra was $2875 at our dealership (it was a left-over 1963 2 door and DARN pretty). Now you can't buy a decent start on a build for that unless you're really lucky (or not very fussy).

That's weird, we had a fire in 71 and ditto on all the toys. I really liked my yellow Tonka Jeep. Wow we're going back a long ways!
