Whoa, nice build! Welcome aboard and I was looking for the cases of beer that should be intermingled with that stack of explosives.

You kill me - the last picture (before this update) was you had the car running, no front end, no interior. Now the car's together and basically ready to drive.... yet you didn't get much done since you "had a procedure on your foot." Do you mind if I ask what procedure you had done? I swear the million dollar man isn't as fast as you, so if I got the procedure it'd speed up my builds by a factor of 100.

I was blessed with having horrible gout, I had to have a cyst like area cut out, i couldnt hardly walk for a few days so I made good use of the craftsman roller chair.

Nice build. I love '65 Olds A bodies. IMO they are hands down the best looking of all the '64-'65 GM Abodies.

                      RE

Alrighty.... Foot is healed, took a little vacation, I'm home and itching to get this thing on the road for Run thru the hills Sept 14th. I am going to make my (hopefully) final order. I am running a Art Carr 200R4, I do not have the tranny cooler lines yet, I have a Champion radiator that has the cooler but I am also thinking of running a Russell 8" frame mount fin style cooler as a secondary. Any feedback on that idea? I'm gonna pick up a Lokar gas pedal and cable, Air Cond needs charged, I need to build or find a nice center console (any suggestions?) gotta line up the fenders/hood etc (WHICH I SUCK AT) bleed the brakes, and hopefully I will be ready for a test drive. I wish I could find a body guy to come to my shop and help with the fender/hood positioning

                        Cool Car!

I've never heard anyone say they had too much cooling for an automatic transmission, in tank plus another is a good plan.

The best advice I ever got about lining up panels (I suck at it too) is to do one thing at a time, and start at the back moving forward, quarter panels and rockers don't move, so you have to do your best with the back and bottom of the door, then make the fender fit the front of the door, and hope you don't end up with giant gaps - or contact - at the hood.

Tape off the edges and use paint stirring sticks and like to hold gaps where you like them as you snug up the bolts.

Walking away often to build patience has always been required for me (I've only done it a few times)
                        - this is one of those things that can drive an ordinary man completely insane! It looks good in pictures already!

Im looking at these pics and wondering... WHERE IS ALL THE RUST? 65 is the best year for A bodies followed closely by 69 and 70. Nice work, and it looks great! I just wish I could afford a car that is mostly there.

                              Hi guys,

I am driving it now or attempting to. I will go ahead and let you know that this is my first Carburated engine, I have always run Fuel Injection. With that being said I am a little out of my relm. Any way this might open up a can of worms but I have a 455 big block, bored .30, Edelbrock heads with minor port work, performer intake with minor port work, 242/572 custom grind cam, headers, magnaflow exhaust, 10:1 compression.
I am looking to purchase a new carb, the car currently has been driven 31 miles with a 750 quadrajet and its really losing power above 2800 RPM. Timing is correct, plenty of fuel pressure. line size is fine, plenty of vacuum, etc etc.
I am debating a Ultra Street Avenger 770 V.S. carb or a Quick Fuel SS 780 V.S. I am also running an Art Carr 200R4 with a 3:23 posi rear. The car weighs 3500 lb with driver and fluids. What would you suggest?

                              Thanks

are you 100% certain your secondaries are opening on your quadrajet?

I have 2 street avengers - they're okay, but good thing they were both cheap (used).
You might consider an 850 carb?
I have an (IIRC) 850 holley with a proform body - I really like that carb, downleg boosters are pretty good

and last thought - you mean 242/272 cam? It's been awhile since I was in school, but the longest (with the old math that I learned) a valve could be held open was 360*.... but who knows, maybe they have a spiral cam that allows more?
