Stand alone fuel system for the nitrous is done. Gonna get to the track next week and iron out the 200 hit with 110 in the nitrous cell.

i had the hood up playing with the timing...a older guy walks up looks in and says " does anyone ever give you crap about putting a chevy motor in a ford" i looked up and said " just the ones that dont know any better" he walked away .....
fact is it has 2 302s in it before the chevy motor,,if i could have gotten any support from the ford community i might have put a ford motor in it,,,

              Update on my junk.
I finally got around to working on my talon last weekend.
Things done last week- removed rear subframe, replaced all bushings, added camber adjustment bars, tie rods, upgraded rear axles, installed a better rear diff. , replaced rear brake calipers and pads.
Also installed coil overs all around, installed new bigger front brakes and pads as well as braided lines.
Pulled the top end of the motor apart , had a valve job done as well as new springs, installed new cams, removed old front mount, installed an aem ecu, sent out the tcu to be programed.
The trans was pulled(it was totally smoked from the opening weekend at the track), I think the trans is finished being rebuilt, also picked up a new converter(hope it works well).

Last nite I installed a new fuel pump and a rewire kit to supply the pump with more amperage.
Today the motor goes back together, with a new intake manifold.
The car should be runing and driving by mid week, hopefully anyway. I have a test drive to ohio and a race in two weeks from now, lots of small details to straighten out I'm sure.

I've given this a TON of thought, to the point where it's distracting me at work. I think I've come up with an equitable solution. GF cannot get the week off and that is weighing heavily into my decision. I also won't have anything sub 13 second in all likelihood, and that REALLY impacts my decision. I think I will do this. Turn in my pre-registration and pray that somebody truly deserving gets the nod. Hopefully something single digit deserving.

This gives my conscience somewhat of a rest. Somebody who is ready to go hopefully gets in, and not enough time but at least a head start to get ready. I should have done this earlier, sorry to whoever gets shafted on prep time but at least you get in!

The rest of the plan involves completing plan w (yet to be named because every time I do something goes fubar) and doing a walkup. If I get there and get to go, rock on. If not, I'll hang out in Tulsa and probably make the Ennis ride as a spectator and then back to Tulsa. It's a decision I can live with.

So... with 30+ days left, who will get the call?

/edit, and I feel like I just kicked myself in the balls. Pretty sure I'm gonna be sick in a minute.

For most of us who have made it to DW multiple times, and even once, it takes a STRONG amount of commitment to actually "make" it to the event, let alone finish, or if you're lucky enough and good enough to win class, or the coveted overall jacket. I feel it's human nature for the average person once they realize the enormity of an event like this to start finding reasons to not go, except for the small percentage of people who have totally the opposite feelings, for them, as things get closer there becomes this level of excitement, and euphoria that builds up and carries them the rest of the way.

This year I have some renewed goals, and I "hope" these goals will carry me through, and continue to give me the motivation to see it to the end, it's not a small undertaking for us working slugs, and it's extremely tough for me running a owner/operator business that does not run without my 100% attention.. The last 14 days I have not had a single day off, and most days have went way into the late night, and it's just gonna get worse, and I'm not getting any younger, so I have to dig deep, like I'm sure a lot of you must do, but at the end of the day, it's ALL worth it, and win, lose, or not finish, you will have the gratification that you gave it your all, and that puts you in a small group in life!! No doubt, there are thousands and thousands who just dream about going, never to realize that dream, and never put out any of the effort that is required to live it...

I wish ALL of you the best at making it this year, and for those that have had to pull the plug, believe me, I know the feeling, and I have no intensions of feeling that feeling this year! I still have a long road ahead, I have a car and engine in a million pieces!!

I am getting there, fixed a lot of the electrical stuff that didn't work and that I needed for dw tech. I got new tires for the track and some taller and narrower ones for the road. I wanted to just make the run on drag radials but I didn't want to be slowed down if we got any weather. From what I have read about the past drag weeks it rains somewhere along the way every year.

I drove it in the 110 heat the other day and it did ok. It did want to warm up at low speeds but it cooled back down on the road or highway. My fan is within 3/8 inch of my water pump so my options are limited for adding cooling capacity. I need to remove the anti freeze from the winter and I am gonna toss in some water wetter to see if it helps. I thought about running a pusher in addition to my pulling fan since I can't run a shroud but I am not sure how much that would help.the hottest it's been is 210 in 110 weather so i hope that's sifficient.

Took mine to the track last night and ran it for the first time on the slicks. Ran a best of 11.19 at 120.6 with a 1.56 60. Still short shifted 1st gear. Just can't seem to wait for the shift light to come on! DA was 6900 feet.

bummer to hear that you had to bail Beagle, hope you can try again next year. I agree with Harry, or is it Karl, oh uh, Eddie...it takes a lot of determination and commitment to make it there and complete safely much less win your class. I went last year with only 40 minutes of run time on a new untested engine, transmission, GV and rear end but there was no way I was gonna skip another one after having to miss 2010.

I want to mention something cool that Slimbo and Jake said on the "lots of rules to get a street car in the nines leagally" thread. They were going back and forth about the spare parts they are bringing not only for themselves but also to help others in need. I will also join them and say that if there's anything, even oddball stuff you may need flag me down on the road or come over to me in the pits and ask. I will be more than happy to check if I have something. I brought a bunch of things that I didn't need last year 'just in case' and that included just in case someone else needed it. I know I'm in the minority for driving a Ford with a Ford engine but most everything else is custom so I will have a variety of things with me.

And back to the regularly scheduled thread content:

My console is back together with all the new wiring, switches, meter blah blah blah so I should be road testing today in our local heat, after I finish the sammich I'm eating while entering this.

Slimbo, these are street cars, not race cars, right?

Beags, that's a bummer, but I've had to make that decision too, and life will go on, and you work towards the next one.

BBR, isn't that personal bests with the Mustang? Damn dude, celebrate! And, now STFII, and make a 10.xx lap!

The assistance we give each other on the road and at the track is why the veterans are so passionate about this deal, which sometimes comes off as insiders or whatever, but the experience is life changing to extent that any hobby taken taken to an extreme for nothing more than bragging rights within a tiny community of like minded folks ever can be.
