Sounds like a good time to hit Route 66. Most of it follows or is part of I-40. If you go that route and come through OKC, I'm down for a brew and bs session. Not much to see in the OKC area except the bombing memorial but there are a bunch of good bar and grills.

Well, crap, sounds like I'm gonna miss ya (won't be back from Haley's until the 26th) but if you get a chance, swing through Jerome, AZ and try out Haunted Hamburger or 15 Quince...Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

That is one way from Tucson that you can go, but the 77/60 is a twisty hilly SOB, and once you hit the Salt River Canyon, it's nothing but 25mph switchbacks down one side and up the other side of the Canyon and god forbid some asshole in a Semi is in front of you......... Mapquest says it's 287 miles from Tucson to Holbrook(I40) going through Phoenix, which they estimate will be 5 hours and 15 min, or he can go the 77 route out of Tucson and bypass Phoenix which is less miles at 237 miles but it takes 5hr 21 min to get to Holbrook(I40) and it's all two lane highway, whereas if he goes up through Phoenix 80% of it will be 4 lane divided highway........ Plus if Tony feels like it I'd be happy to buy him lunch on his way through Phoenix...... Time wise is about the same, but if something goes wrong I got Tools in Phoenix, where on the 77 your pretty much out in the middle of nowhere.......Originally posted by tedly View Post77?Last edited by TC; August 13, 2012, 10:59 AM.Comment
