Portable Two Post Lifts.....

2 post lifts. I shopped for 6 months before I went to Greg Smith Equipment. Only selling point, they keep stock of replacement parts for all their lifts. Basically learned that every single lift supplier, even Bendpack, are made overseas. I didnt buy one hoping I would find an american company for a fricking hydraulic cylinder, hose and some structural steel welded together. 2 post lifts show the bottom line of how sad it is that america chooses to import rather than build our own shit. Whether you bolt them or not, if you can find one with the absolute largest baseplate, you will get a safer lift. Looking at those pictures, I would even weld a nice big plate under either of those.

I'm hunting around for a lift as well. I was looking at some from Greg Smith Equip as well but was unsure of the quality. Sad to hear they are all imported.

I really like the lift that Mike Crow has. It is a 4-post mobile lift. Not sure of the brand, but it is damned handy!

8' ceiling? so 5' for car and the max you'll get the car 3' off the floor... tc is a midget? not that there's anything wrong with that but if you're not, you won't be standing anyway... and in many ways 3' would be far more annoying then the 2' you can get a car off the ground on jack stands

IMO you live in Arizona, why not put a full sized lift outside?

Those R the same #'s I was thinking. Sure is a lot of BS and $$$ for 3 lousy feet. Can you do this somewhere on your property? Also, this is free standing and can be rolled around on included casters. Maybe you can put away when not using it in your 8 foot space and roll it out when you need it. If you're gonna spend $$ on a hoist...you should be able to stand up under the car

Daylon is looking at selling one of his Bend-Paks, which are some nice lifts!!! trade him some head work maybe? I think he wanted $1500 for a heavy 2-post.

Like I said, its all in getting replacement parts. I dont doubt every one is bought from the same supplier. Our deal, we had a bad fitting on the hydraulic line that goes up and over to the cylinder opposite of the pump and they ups's one the same day, no questions, didnt want the old one back. The quality is ok, we have the Atlas OH 10X, Xtra wide, extra tall that had no trouble with the Chevy express 3500 full size van when we rebuilt the trans. I would probably like the pins to be a little longer that hold the arms on, we just make sure to pound them all the way in before a lift. Its not that they are short, its the taper on the bottom that make it seem like it barely makes it thru the bottom yoke. But as far as variety, they have all different kinds that fit any need.

Mine is a WHIP from Texas - got it from Greg smith when they still carried them, never had a single problem with it going on 8 years of hobby use.

This a real Greek tragedy, when the best intentioned goal to buy American runs into the difficulty of running a small business in this country these days. I live in the poster child state for killing small business.

Our state motto has been changed to "tax the rich, feed the poor, 'till there are no rich no more".

Rich being defined as anybody with enough gumption to try and run a private sector business.
