hello all
the monster is still alive . after living with the 'sugar' since the summer of 07 . semi -eating right , not taking my medications and working too much , my body started to give out
I noticed my little toe was getting red , from rubbing in various collection of old shoes and stretched out old sweat socks , I figured it would just go away , happened before ....
last wednsday , the mofo toe blew up , noticed it when I woke up , wifey said go to the emergency room , I said , nope , gots work to do , I fixed two vans with throttle actuated control problems by 12 , but I could not walk anymore , I told my boss I couldn't work anymore , while they were pulling a duramax school bus in my bay to work on next
stopped off at the house , took a shower , wifey checked out the tripled in size toe and proclaimed " dude ! you are going to lose that toe " I said no ####ing way -hopped in the cavalier and drove to ridgewood
in the emergency room , I startled the nice nurses with my gross toe
my feet look like they have been through the war anyway , got an x ray , I was running a 102 temperature and the infection had blown up my whole foot and ankle and shooting up my leg . the doctor said I was being admitted and I had to accept not being able to work as the alternative was death or losing a leg ..
met with the podiatrist , he was the first one to explain about the bone rotting away , and that I was going to lose one bone in the upper area of the toe . I had to be cool with it , but it was upsetting , amputations are gross
they did the deed on tuesday
I got let of the hospital last night , with a pile of prescription meds
words cannot convey the gratitude I feel to all of you here and at the rodder's corner
I never knew I had so many friends and people who care about me , my wife and knucklehead kids , thak you for the phone calls and cards and everything , you guys are the best !! my sister was in the room the first night and could not believe the volume of phone calls I was getting . she was like - have you ever met these guys , I said no , but we know more details about each other thean most friends know about each other
if I could ever do anything to possibly repay all of you for the kindness shown , feel free to ask
I was already in my hospital bed trying to diagnose driver tag's suburban
words can never express the gratitude we feel
so.. I have to rehab right now , not sure how much I am going to be on for awhile
thanks
