My wife went shopping there around 3 the day before....we've probably used that parking lot 3-4 times a week for the past 23 years.

Wow. It just goes to show that you have to be careful even before you get on the road.
That sucks.

200 mph or bust.......
I had a car written-off in a parking lot.
Idling away from a coffee-shop drive thru, and a woman tuned left in front of me to dive into a spot.
Head-on Thud.
Sat in the car for a few minutes to calm down. When I had to leave via the passenfer door, my calm was gone!
Thankfully, a few people descretely gave me their contact info as witnesses, and I came out well on that one.

People become invisible when drivers are looking for spaces to park.
We had a bad wreck in our Walmart parking lot a few years back, almost killed one of the people involved, lots of idiots out there.
This was the result of my daughter fooling around in the Wal Mart lot in the snow. The upside was I made her spend her Christmas money to buy a parts car to fix this. She had to go all over to find a car with a bad motor but good front clip, she had to help winch it onto the trailer in a blizzard, and had to work with me fixing the car in below zero weather. Talk about your daddy-daughter moments....
I hate driving in parking lots. I'm always looking all directions trying to keep track of everyone around. There are too many dummys out there. Bad enough on the road. Gets worse when they're contained in a parking lot.
I just close my eyes and go for the space I want. To quote Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatoes, "I'm older and have better insurance". Not really, but I think that's the method employed by a bunch of these Bozos.
