Yella Terra & Probe Industries Shaft Rockers?

    Hey People,

New to here and is my first post other than my intro.

Racingsnake440 put up a post about titanium pushrods last month and that was for a motor he's picked up for me. It's a 20 year old 350 sbc race motor that was never used with 12.5:1 compression, 660 lift solid roller cam, 9k rev kit, ported gm iron heads, gear drive etc which we plan to spin to 7,500 rpm and run through up to 200 shot of nitrous.

Anyways we are now looking at shaft rocker systems (heads have springs and valves only) and I've been looking at the budget end of things (I'm not considering the Procomp and $200 ebay items). This has lead me to 2 options, the Yella Terra and the Probe Industries items. Being an Aussie I'm familiar with Yella Terra and their quality and at $572 they seem a pretty good deal when compared fully kitting out the heads with new studs, guide plates, rockers and a girdle. I've seen the Probe Industries items on ebay for $550 but I know nothing about their quality, has anyone used the Probe Industries Shaft Rockers on a SBC (or other) and care to comment on their quality?

    Cheers

I have not used Probe rockers and therefore can't comment, but I'll give you a x2 on the fact that Yella Terra seems like good affordable stuff. I've installed them on one SBC and one BBC.

I've used the Probe shaft rockers on quite a few cylinder heads. The fit is really good and they have very nice geometry when set up properly. Much more affordable than the Jesel Sportsman and even more selection.

My latest camshaft and valvetrain package using these rockers went on an NMRA Pure Street combination. This small block Ford engine is using the brand new AFR 185 "comp" series heads. With an obsolete hydraulic roller camshaft (6 year old technology) and unmodified OEM lifters, the valvetrain was stable to over 8000 RPM.

I would not hesitate one second recommending the Probe pieces to any customer.

I sell both. Would need an address to figure out a total price. Sending stuff over the pond gets tricky sometimes.

            Hi Ed,

They would be shipped to racingsnake440 who's in Fullerton, CA 92833. He'll be confirming the head casting number as soon as he's fit as he just had an operation. He thinks they were 461 or 491.

Best I've seen so far for the YT6008's was $572 shipped on Car Shop Inc and the 1.5/1.5 probes on ebay via WPPARTS were $565 shipped but this has a best offer option also.

I'll post the casting numbers once confirmed.

            Cheers

            Steve

Thanks for the additional feedback people.

Ed, the heads are angle plug 3991492 castings

I've also just come across a Speedway Motors advert where they have a shaft setup for $454.99 which is well cheap but don't know if they are too cheap. Have heard over the years that their chrome hot rod parts can be rubbish but haven't heard anything about the mechanical stuff.

Is Speedway going a step to far into the cheap market?

                      Sorry Steve,

Had to do a bit more reworking on a set of AFR 227 heads to do for a customer so I got distracted and missed this...

I'll make a call to Probe Monday to get an accurate "shipped" price. Since the drop point is California, should be a shweeet deal... Let you know via PM..

I've used 3 sets of Yella Terra shaft rockers on 3 small block Chevies with great results. No issues with any of them.
