    Really old cool plane pictures.

My maternal Grandfather, Harry Leber, was a pilot and squadron commander before and during WWII. My mother and my aunt have several photo albums full of pics he took during these times. I took pictures of the pictures and will be sharing them here. I have dozens of photos to crop and fix then upload. I'll give you as much of the history as I know. He died six months before I was born so getting it directly is no longer possible.

Here's a taste. How many of you ever seen a Martin B-10 bomber? Harry trained on one of these before going on to the B-17. This was taken at Hamilton Air Field near San Rafael CA in 1937.

          Old aircraft is cool

What's the story on the Martin?

Doesn't look big and bulky like most bomber from back then.

In 1936, my Grandfather was stationed to Randolph Air Field near San Antonio, TX for beginning air training. I'm not sure if these are PT-11's or PT-3's.

Randolph was called the "Show Place of the Air Force", because of it's Spanish colonial buildings and central tower.

These flying cadets sure took a lot of pics while flying.

These were the times when the Bi-plane was beginning to go the way of the Dodo. Funny, that's what they called rookies who had yet soloed.

XC-32 was the experimental stage of what became the DC-3 and the military C-47.

This next series of pictures of the wreckage of one of Harry's fellow students. The caption says "This is the wreckage of F/C Burnett's before he should have gone to Kelly Field, killed instantly."

Harry went down to Waco for night time and low visibility training.

Flying at night meant the days were off. So off to Corpus Christi to go boating.
