    Spinoff: Non-Chevy engine 1966 Nova

Was reading thru Frieburgers thread on going with something different in his Camaro. Here is an idea. My friend Severo wrecked his SN95 Cobra Mustang. Which was powered by a Turbocharged 331 cid small block Ford. So rather than leave the engine sitting around, he decided to drop it in his Dad's show quality 1966 Nova.

With the installation handled by Angel Padilla, from Automotive Specialties in San Antonio, Texas and the tuning done by Steve Petty of Tim Lynch fame, the little Chevy II was able to rip out some low 10 second passes on 17" wheels and tires. :D

Check out this thing lifting the 17" wheels on a light launch. :o

And check out the video's of the Ford Powered Chevy II taking on two Malibu's! Click on the pictures for video.

I had a "spare" '64 Nova once upon a time - when my dad wrecked his '72 Torino. Even though I had spare chevy engines standing by, he pulled the 351C out of his Torino and put it into the Nova. The oil pan/sump was in the right place and it dropped in without a hitch. Of course he had to make engine/trans mounts and have a driveshaft made, but that's all par for the course. I thought it was terrible that he put a Ford engine into my chevy - but he had wheels to drive to work from then on. That thing still had a Ford engine in it when it was sold.

You know what's funny with this car is, unless you mention it. Most people will not even notice there is a Ford engine under the hood. I applaud your father for doing what he need to do to get a car running. I remember growing up in a one car family. When it broke, it was the bus for my Dad. Because of that, I own 4 cars even though only the wife and I drive. The other two cars are our backups...LOL!
