that looks really nice, but what's wrong with your camera? the door looks lighter than the rest of the car in about 1/2 of your photos.
Doing it all wrong since 1966

yeah, isn't that weird? paint is perfect, but on this cloudy day, with or without flash, it turned out that way. This weeks BIG CHANGE are the period correct American Torque Thrust Ds on the front. The rear set I have are 10 wide, need 7s so they are not mounted yet. I can't believe, as close as Scott obviously looked at this weeks pics, he missed the mis-matched wheels on the car!

Shadows and lighting do odd things to paint colors. That's why I don't fret too much about it.

Bolted the yellow and black rear plate (last registration sticker--1989) to the rear bumper and DROVE 6 blocks to the muffler shop this morning-getting a lower $$ 2.5 setup installed so I can stand to have it running inside the shop and drive it around some. Should be done tomorrow, maybe registered tomorrow and legal to drive as well.....yippeee

was the doors painted off the car.. sometimes when they are the metal flakes settle differently as the paint flows..
the camera picks up the different angle of the flake..

daddo will not paint any metalic off the car.. because of this.. even different days weather and dry'n times can play havoc when done different days.. he's found it just aint worth it.. he'd rather the jams be a slight shade off when photo'd than the outer skin

My body was painted a year before everything else, so I get that same effect in certain light between the rear quarters and the door/front fenders.
I would like to, long term, re-block & repaint the sides of the car for a few reasons. I am in NO hurry and the slight variation doesn't bug me that much.

Unless you're going for a Riddler I wouldn't worry my pretty little head about it. Looks GREAT!

doesn't concern me in the least-just a weird thing I never noticed or considered before. As rough as this car was, I am completely pleased with how the body and paint turned out-especially for the price I paid which was CHEAP by any standard. Got exhaust finished today, drove it back to shop, spent some time getting the rear axle housing "straight" in the chassis, needs an alignment for sure and registered. Insurance is arranged, weather is shit-not likely I am driving it to AAA for vin verification and registration before next week, although I really want to do it tomorrow.....

I'm still here-kinda-sometime...Fairlane is registered/insured/has traveled 40ish miles on its own. Suspension challenges on both ends of the car continue to plague me. The correct front springs pointed the headlights at the sky so I cut 2 coils from them (16 months ago) and of course after awhile they sagged to where the tires rubbed the inside of the front fenders again. Tried another new set without cutting them and it now looks like a straight axle gasser from the early 60s again-sh!t. on reflection, the aluminum top end on the 428 and the aluminum radiator removed abt 250 lbs from the nose-but-it shouldn't be this high/stiff. Got a set of springs for same car with a 289/no ac and while the same length, the wire is 1/3 smaller in diameter so that should allow it to settle better. might try them this week.... In the rear, it appears the po welded the crossmember for the forward ladder bar links in the wrong place. with the bars nicely in line the right rear tire is pulled over so the inner sidewall rubs the wheelhouse. adjust the (trackbar?) so the tires are centered in the wheels houses and the ladder bars are seriously kinked to one side. tried a variety of differnt wheels/tires,
but the issue is where the bars are located on the housing/crossmember. Taking it to a local chassis shop soon () for them to sort out, I suck at welding and so don't even own one. it appears to be an early 90s alston back half kit so I believe the housing is probably correct and the crossmember is wrong.

oh yeah and instead of working on these issues the past 2 weekends, I trenched/installed 125 feet of natural gas line to my house-saved 2k doing all the hard stuff myself, and for the first time ever, my all electric home is about to take advantage of the vcheapest utility available...so I can maybe put some of my hard earned dough back to this Ford!

Great to hear from you. Natural gas is the way to go for most stuff (steep learning curve on a stove) Great idea to do the trenching yourself I did the same when converting 100 amp overhead to 200 amp underground electric service.
There's always something new to learn.
