    Re: Hot Rod power tour

When we did tour last year, due to holiday time/kids etc-we didn't get into Cleveland until Saturday later, and missed alot of the days events. Also we were tired from the ride. This year we are leaving an extra day or two earlier and giving an extra day to recope/clean up car etc on the way home.10 days I figure.Worth every effort needed,we met alot of great people, got to see some areas driving that we normally would not get to.

The tour itself is 7 days. Drive time to and from beginning/end has to be factored in also. I like to get to the kickoff city a day early, and when it's over a full day of not sitting in something thats moving and has to be shifted is nice.

Tour is 8 days long, depending on how far away you are, that adds more days in travel then add any days you want to spend with others along the way there and back.

My buddies and I have decided that this year we will come over from the UK to do the tour for the 1st time, we have purchased a 1962 Catalina and cant wait. As it has been stated the tour is what you put into it. We have plenty of car shows over here in the UK so if we don't make the days show we wont be to bothered. For us its all about meeting people and seeing some of America we wouldn't normally see.

You and your buddys will have a blast Cheif. But its too bad your miss the wide open highways of the rest of the USA since HRM is keeping the tour in the east. I personally dont like big crouds and crouded highways so I have been staying away from the tour for a few years but if it ever goes cross country again im in in a heartbeat.

I completely agree but for different reasons. I really have no desire to see parts of the country that I drive on a regular bases in my normal weekend cruzn to car events thing. I like the coast to coast, all day driving, weed out the weak and the folks in the mini-vans. How about a Washington State to Maine and head thru places like the Black Hills, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, get it, National, State parks and places of interest and beauty. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm dreaming, then vendors can't hang and keep up like they use to. ;)

If it wasn't for Power Tour you and I might never have meet in person.

Oh I think we would have ran into (figuratively of course!) each other sooner or later. We share too many interests. But im certainly glad to have been your friend for the last 6 or 7 years! We need to stay after DF and Chad for a Carjunkie tour. I suggested one from Ca to the Texas Mile and got a few supportive comments in return. I might be up to driving to Ca. and back for that one. Hey by the way, keep up the documentaries, lots of us live vicariously through your exploits.

Folks here haven't seemed too responsive to them here, a few but not many. You know where you can find them though. ;)

Well some of these guys haven't gotten it through their thick skulls that a Girl can be just as good, or better than them at hotrod stuff.

Nah, it has nothing to do with that. I think they just read it and move on. Whether they liked the "adventure" or not, they don't make any comments.

Denise, No I don't know where I can find your documentaries, tell me where? So far, I have really enjoyed the posts of yours that I've read so far (especially since we obviously shared the same Dad with respect to our control line plane crash). Looking forward to meeting you out there somewhere ...

Below is listed kinda a year in review for most of the events I attended in 2007. You'll also note that I had plans to attend the BilletProof Florida gig in this March BUT I haven't been able to find a flight outta Detroit for less then $500 so that show for 2008 is on the back burner unless something decently priced comes along. That event would have been the one we could have meet at. Do you ever get to any of the GoodGuy events?

Oh yeah, I've been digging thru old family photos looking for the year I got the plane for Christmas. I wanna see if I'm smiling or do I have a look of disappointment on my face. :P My Dad was really into taking slides so I've got all those to look through too which are not as easy to view obviously as photos. If I find one suitable for sharing, I'll scan and post.

I just came back home after living in Sydney, Australia for 15 years, so unfortunately, I have not been to any US events in that timeframe. Looking forward to catching up on those lost years though. I'm gonna try and get to Maxton a few times this year and am doing HRM PT08 as a Long Hauler. Weeeee !!!!
