I wasn't going to do anything to the car all winter, but I kind of changed my mind. ;D

It came out for cleaning and inspection. Guess I better pull the pan while its out and check the bearings, etc... :-\

I have very minor oil leaks at the mains and at the rear intake gasket. Suggestions, please? (suggesting as LS motor is not what I'm looking for )

Someday there will be a nice shop with 12' ceilings and a lift and heat and all the nice things. But that is a decade or more away.

At least I don't have to do this in the driveway. I'm fortunate in that respect.

Gene - as good as that thing ran - I would replace the gaskets / seals where you have leak issues, inspect the bearings in the bottom end and the oil pump / pick up screen, and put it back together without even pulling the heads off.... to get the fuel economy and power you were out of that engine - nothing can be seriously wrong with it.

I'm with John. Replace the intake gasket, rear main (and associated oil pan gasket), inspect the bearings, replace if inclined. Bolt back together and enjoy. I did the same last year with the bottom end of my Centurion engine, I replaced the bearings "just because it had XX,XXX miles on it". It all looked good.

That's what I'm thinking. I want to get my brother to look it over. He was a machinist at a speed shop for a while; looking at this kind of thing in person is always better than pix. Anyway, unless he sees something, it's gonna be gaskets and drop it right back in.

I'd really like to swap the heads for my Vortec's but I ain't got no intake and I don't feel like dropping the coin right now.

Can't you make a decent Vortec intake out of garage door parts? Don't cheap out - buy new parts, for sure. You'll need to find a good weldor.

Got a new set of sneakers. 15x6 front, 15x7 rear, 205/75 & 225/70. Sits right, drives nice and smooth. Looks... ho hum. I love it.

Neat: the hubcaps are original to the car.

Oh, and the hubcaps fit over the long wheel studs.
