    Re: harwood hood run away

You can't reasonably ask for anything more that a replacement part and I doubt they would give it to you. This is the "aftermarket"...after all. If they are helpfull ask for just the top panel so you can GLUE IT TOGETHER YOURSELF this time. Any "how-to" book should have you doing decent work.

If we ever had a thread for quality issues with aftermarket products, I could go on for pages. I don't think that's healthy for this website.

To add one comment, adhesives are not what they used to be. Reformulations for voc requirements are one thing, and according to a good friend in that business Chinese imports are another. Products that you've been using for years suddenly don't work anymore. This-type problem is incredibly frustrating in my work, things that you've been doing forever are impossible now due to poor quality materials. This could be something that Harwood is dealing with.

True.....sponsor dollars allow DF and Chad to live the CarJunkie life to the fullest, LOL.

Then again, DF has never been shy about raising the BS flag on manufacturers, either(this also applies to Matt King).

You guys just gotta know someone out there is thinking... Yep and you'll pay for the 7000dollar mural I had on it and the Gold leaf and so on... so if they buy one guy a Hood on what appears to be a legit issue ( I think I was there when this thing came apart... so I'm pretty dang sure it's a Legit issue ) How bad is the overall liablity exposure...

I hate what our society has done to business in the US... but that's our world today.

agreed, I was just goshin about the new skin, but a new hood should at least be givin, even if you have to pay to have it shipped

see the problem lies in the society that we currently have, is if some kids bought a car with a pin on hood driving this thing every day, the hood comes apart because he beats the ever loving hell out of this car. he contacts them they tell him sorry but nothing they can do or offer to replace the hood, he wants a hood painted shipped and fix the windshield and roof that is tore up in the process. now he sues them and wins cause he has some sleezball lawyer. now this company wont help anyone ever because they dont want issue, they put little bitty stickers on everything that says caution something may happen at sometime.

Typical warranty on just about anything is the manufacture will replace or repair the item. Almost all (any I've seen anyways) say something to the effect of they do not cover incidental damages caused by the failure. An easy example is say a spark plug, say the ground strap falls off in the combustion chamber and tears up the piston, head and valves. The spark plug manufacture will replace the spark plug but you are on your own for the other stuff. Many products state clearly they don't cover incidentals, only the part itself, that just standard procedure. Those have held up against lawsuits time and time again so I'd figure Harwood probably has the same legal jargon in their warranty.
                Escaped on a technicality.

I bought a B/M TH700R4 trans from Summit and in a week it went bad.
Summit paid my shipping costs to get the tranny back to them and paid
shipping on the replacement to Spain.

                      Don´t get better than that.

Good news. Nice to see he's a member here. Plus I'm sure hearing them make it right will affect some future purchasing decision for other CJTV members.
