Re: 1961 Olds 88 2 Dr Sedan Full preview

I found out that info from the service manual. I need to get a filter so I can hook it all up. Right now it's feeding out of the tank but I have the return line plugged off. What was really amazing was the condition of the old rubber lines I removed, for being 47 years old they weren't cracked and brittle. The factory hose clamps had the screws on top, installed before the body was dropped on the frame, and a PITA to get off.

Well the car made the approx. 40 mile round trip journey ,from Junkyard Dog to Show Car Poodle in less than 60 days. Got alot of compliments.. Also got some cools pics to share from the show.

My GF Jenny was a real trooper braving the cold the whole day, I gave her a chance to stay home, she said she couldn't miss this adventure.

No, I don't believe so. These people all have the Speed Channel, hence the B-J prices. There was a 68 Lemans GTO wannabe that had an asking price of 3600 and sold for probebly 3000. FYI I did talk to a Buick guy thats been around forever and he told me about a 64 Riv he missed for 2200 with 45K miles that sold locally.

Don't tell me that mess... I bought mine for $6500 with 3 patch panels and a questionably straightened fender with 89k miles. It is a very high option car (so far there are like 6 it doesn't have that I can count) and the interior is amazingly intact so I'm happy with it.

I ask about the '58 for my friends business as a ride since we agreed it big enough but not huge like a 59-60 and he liked the style of one we saw on PT07. However I think the economic downturn is going to hurt his cash flow towards getting a cool company vehicle instead of the dependable but boring Subaru Legacy they have now.

GF is a keeper. Any woman who will spend a day huddled up in a blanket so you can show an old Olds has gone way above and beyond the Female Creed.

And Hey! Beaux the Wonder Dog is a Poodle and not at all Froo-Froo. I think you were thinkin' of a Bishon! Actually, the old Olds isn't very Froo-Froo, either - even cleaned up.

Nice resurrection on the Olds; and it's nice to see that your GF goes to the shows with you... Out of complete curiousity and to measure the "above and beyond" the call of duty statement - what was the temperature that day?

Thanks . Temp was in the low 50's. She did say she may have to stay home next time. I told her no problem. She's still a keeper, in fact she just got her new laptop today , for Christmas, early. So she's covered as far as entertainment goes until I cook up something new. Speaking of new, my son just got his drivers permit so the Olds is going to the sidelines for awhile. My sons car is a 75 Pontiac Ventura SJ 260 Olds engine 350 turbo rebuilt, new tires. perfect beater car for a first time driver. Started out as a 250.00 car but it's up to about 1200.00 now. No Smog Required though. WooHoo! Anyway I need to finish a few things on it so it gets bumped to the head of the line. Then after that my friend Terry and i need to do some engine work on his 74 Challenger so we can get that out of my garage by the first of the year, Then I may pull the engine out of my Firebird to sell since I have a better one on the stand. So I will be busy .Oh, and then I've got a few things to do on the RR. Heres a few pics and stats for your enjoyment.

75 Pontiac Ventura SJ Auto on the floor same seats as TA dog 260 2 barrel rebuilt 350 turbo, factory AM/FM

68 Pontiac Firebird 400 4 speed, tilt wheel,400 hood and tach added on. belonged to my late brother, this was his 3rd 68 Firebird he owned. Lot's of sentimentel value.Had a blown engine when I got it . I'm building a nice 400 for it. He bought those wheels new in 1980 for his 2nd FB. Runs and drives but has a pilot bushing problem. No hurry on this one. Gets serious rubber in all 4 gears with a stock 71 400, I drive it just like my brother use too! FYI,paint was thin when i got it so what you see is 7 large cans of satin black shot through and undercoating nozzle.
69 Roadrunner 440/727 GearVendorsOD, driven on a 7800 mile roadtrip through 17 states over 32 days Summer 2007, still having fun with this one.Me and a pro bodyman friend of mine have 240 man hours in the bodywork and paint.
Thats all for now. If anything exciting happens to the Olds I'll update it. Thanks for letting me share my car on here and thanks for all the cool comments. TCB

Just got these today, ebay score, NOS Foxcraft with new seals and mounting hardware. 50.00 love or hate on these, but they are removable and really give the car a different look. I couldn't let them pass me by.
