It's days like today that make me wish I had a shop or garage :-\ I tried doing some work this morning, and got a bit done before the snow drove me back indoors. It's really starting to pile up now and it had just started snowing about 1/2 hour before I went outside. I got the rear axle completely separated from the car now. Drive shaft, Brake line, the Parking brake cables, the shocks and lastly the springs.
That's a half an hour's worth of snow. I got the car up on the highest settings my cheap Jack Stands have.
Here is where I called it the day, or at least until it stops snowing. It's all disconnected, I have to get my floor jacks out to lift the car high enough to clear the tires. So next step will be moving the Jeep and Centurion, lifting the car a bit more and rolling it out ;D The snow flakes are now the size of quarters and coming down thick :'(
Oh yeah, and Dave, the other front spring perch bolts came loose pretty easily with my six inch rachet and the eye bolts with the box end of a 11/16" wrench ;D Piece O' Cake.
We had it tough here today as well. It only got up to 68 or so and the damn glare from the sun was really annoying. I did get my spoiler corners installed, however. We also made a spacer and moved the rt. rear brake drum off the backing plate on his Metro - no clue what happened to mess that up in the first place. We're having fun, though.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the last of the hard physical labor is over! I got the rear axles swapped out today and the sub-frame connectors installed ;D It was miserable working conditions though :-\ and I was irritated most the day as I was laying in a constant river of cold water raining off the roof of the house and top of the car and mud all day > But I powered through it and am pretty cheerful now ;D
Jacked the car up on the passenger side, as it turned out I only have one jack large enough to lift the body high enough to clear the tires, once the one side was up high enough I rotated the passenger side tire out and around the back of the car and clear out. Then I set the car back on the jack stands and left the jacks in place for six points of contact with the ground while working under the car.
This one is for you Dave ;) No rust, just a bunch of dirt intermingled with some oil.
Once I had the 7.5" out ;D
Those shocks were completely useless, There was absolutely no resistance in them.
I quickly wired wheeled the parts I needed off the 7.5" and painted them black. I ran a new hard brake lines as well. Ready to go in!
Back on the ground ;D Note Snow on trunk and hood :'(
It's hard to see but the sub-frame connectors are in too ;D I don't have the shocks in there yet, they will be in tomorrow.
I need to either come up with cable stops big enough for the parking brake cable or a new parking brake cable to hook that up, I had to cut the original stop off to get the drum brake spring off it :-\ But that's trivial stuff, next up Exhaust! 8)
They are 235/60R15's. They are 15"x7" rims I'll casually start looking for possible 15x8's but I'm unsure if Buick's came that wide with the 5x5 bolt pattern.

They're steel rims, right? Be easier to have them widened. I say 15x10's and 295/50's crammed in there.

I'll have to keep that in mind Where does one go to get rims widened anyways?
