I didn't Right Stuff the valve covers. In fact, I didn't add any RTV to it either, so they are still glued to the valve cover and installed dry on the head. I just put a lot more torque onto the bolts this round, in addition to the clamps.

Grrr, it still leaks oil, abundantly.
It still runs strong, but going to pull the engine/trans again and change out the rear main seal. I just ordered another one and unfortunately it likely won't be here until Wednesday.
One of the cut outs is also leaking, so I'm going to remove the electric ones and just cap them until I figure out how to repair the leaker. The fight continues.Escaped on a technicality.Comment

Yup! Last did this back in 2010 or so when I was having a few other engine issues. Head gaskets then cam, etc. And 2013 was just a bad year =PEscaped on a technicality.Comment

After work today I pulled the engine, stuck it on an engine stand, removed the oil pan and cleaned up the gasket surface. Now I wait for the new rear main seal to show up on Wednesday.
To humor myself, several months ago I bought a camera for my dog's collar that takes a picture every 5 minutes, however the camera was only $8, so it doesn't take the greatest of pictures and a few come out corrupt. But, I did manage to make an animated GIF of the engine pull (and off screen remove the transmission, mount on the engine stand, removed the oil pan and cleaned up the gasket surface).

I used a better animated GIF program and updated it. It runs a bit smoother now since all the pictures are in sequence now
The dog has found other ways of expressing himself lately. Mostly through gas.
Here is a link to an album that contains all the photo's that went into the GIF. Its interesting to see how incrementally the car moves up when the radiator and exhaust system is removed.

for those who are impulse purchasers - you can do better than Randal ($7.08)

Haha, yeah that is the exact one I have. Maybe it was $7, I bought it several months ago. The shutter speed is typically too slow so most my dog's pictures were blurry beyond recognition. I don't regret spending that $7 either

I have 3 dogs, they all will get one. Problem I know I'll have is they team up to jailbreak the other dog's collar (we call them "running around naked" - which, happens often enough that they know that we've seen their missing collars and will act apologetic).Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment
