I've always held a fascination for history, particularly that of WWII.

Amazing the things those brave souls did in these machines...aircraft and ships alike.

I've spent the past 2 hours checking out some of these links....interesting reading!

My mom's dad served on an ammunition ship in WWII. He's passed away but he would tell us the best stories.

One of my favorites was about how he was an 8th grade drop out. When he got his assignment and spent some time on the ship meeting with guys he found that most of the guys on the ship were drop outs as well.

His conclusion (always told with a laugh):

"They put all of us dumb guys on the ship that was ready to explode at any second. It's a miracle I made it out of that time alive."

My wife always worried about me when I was on the Sub because she knew the other guys out there with me....She was surprised that the 135 idiots running a 4 Billion Dollar Nuclear Powered Sub didn't sink or kill themselves....

We had a great crew......But we were a bunch of Morons ;D

My grandmother and her 3 sisters were all welders for Kaiser steel in the bay area during the war...they built Liberty ships....I'll post a pic of her on the Jeremiah O'Brien this past spring...she got choked up taking a cruise on that boat.....she said she always wondered if she was building a young mans coffin.
