for those of us that have toys and cant afford to build them or race them, we find alternative methods of having fun here in michigan in the sticks we have a lawn mower racing association. that races every other week at three differant tracks within a 20 mile radius of here. they a re farely bone stock i run in th 12-14.5 hp range, mine is a 12hp briggs. internal engine has to be stock, everything else can be modified within race specs. and they are serious they get out the tape measure and everything.

Nice. Some friends of mine started to build a lawn mower like that a while back. We never finished it, but it's still sitting there. We got it running and got a bigger pulley for the rear. I think all we lack to drive it is a belt. ;D

yah i know, I went all out, i need to take newer pics, i didnt have a single spot on the tractor that was big enough for 5 inch numbers so i had to bolt license plates to the sides and paint to match, there are far more redneck things about it than the exhaust, hell the exhaust is the only thing i bought new.

I do the same things w/golfcarts. We pick them up not running and swap in V twins (20 - 23 hp) and tear around the trails with them. We try to make/fab as much of the stuff as we can. The yamaha I'm setting up for the kids right now has gone 29mph on the stock motor with some tweaks.

I like the lawnmower racing thing ,looks like a real blast. But what I really like is when I stumble upon a Lawn tractor pull. Some of them have Import 4's ,V-6as well as V-8's . I srarted building on once but my chevy ran the opposite way than the Kholer did and my Hydro-stat wouldn't build preasure.

btw thats not my yard, lol, yah it was a l;ate 60's early 70's wheel horse 7hp origonally. I am on almost an acre with a house, garage, 2 sheds, a 20 x 12 tent type encloser a plow truck , and 6 other cars outside not to mention the 2 trailers and dog run. and believe it or not i still have about half grass.

Hey, that's my house!  Sharon Jean just got done paintin' them toilets so the drunk neighbor don't run his car in the yard no more.  He done already knocked over all the bicycles the other day and knocked the trailer off it's block.  ;D

well guys, today was a bad day at the track, i threw a rod right through the side of the block right behind the starter, i have the chunk of aluminum that it blew out, one of the officials gave it to me. the other racers are donting a new frame and tires, i have a spare motor, hopefully in two weeks i will be able to run again i wil have pictures and video up soon as is is done loading in photobucket

First time I saw lawn mower racing was at the Harford county fair in Susquehanna county, PA. Thought it was pretty cool!
