Went to a truck show on Sunday. No "little" trucks, just commercial stuff.
This was my favorite. It was a firetruck here in VT and was retired from service in 1965. It was then sold to a ski area and used as a shuttle, then abandoned in a field until 1981. The rear half was scrapped and the front ended up being restored and was in a bar in MA until it closed in 2000. It was then purchased and restored as a dump truck using original Mack blueprints for the dump body. Beautiful job.

Ah..... the successors to the reason why a Mack truck has a bulldog as an emblem. A reputation earned during WW1.

The show was in Rutland, VT. Greg (ScreamingDetroit) and I went despite the rain and we were not disappointed. Great show with many interesting trucks. Unfortunately it is the last one that will be held here. High fuel prices combined with the age of the participants is cutting down on attendance. I have more pics of other trucks and will post them later.

There was a '68 Kenworth with a 12 cyl. Detroit Diesel and straight pipes. Talk about a machine, that was worth going to see itself. We waited at least an hour or so just to hear it run. The owner drove it around the fairgrounds and let her bellow. Just awesome. Have video of that too that I will share.

That Mack is just too cool. I too love those old big trucks. I went to a truck show at the NAPA distribution center near Greensboro, NC a few years ago. I could not believe the number of old restored big rigs that were trailered in. Lots of the solid rubber tired early teens stuff as well.

It's carb'd. I think that pump is the water pump. The thing that has me puzzled is the ignition. 8 plugs, 8 wires, but a 4cyl. dist. cap, and the other 4 wires go to that other part off to the side.

8 plugs, 8 wires, but only four cylinders (look closely at the side of the engine, you can see the outline of the cylinders in the engine casting)

Yeah, but what do the other 4 wires go to? Only 4 go to the dist. cap.
