what engine is this? and why is the blower mounted like that? clearance issues?
Looks like an FE ford by the timing cover. Its mounted like that because it was a popular mounting style in the 50's and 60's to direct drive the blower at 100% off of the cam snout and avoid a belt or chain.
I'm going with an Olds motor and it's for a boat application.
I'm no motor expert when they are all stripped down like that. For whatever reason I always think of Ford FE when I see a tombstone looking timing cover.

valve covers
two center bolts lumps in top side for rocker clearance lol
i just got rid of mine if i did not have one i would not have known and also would have thought ford kinda like a y block valve cover at a quick glance
I like the concept, but I think the execution was poor. And this was a 4-door wagon, check out the rear tailgate. I think a more square looking cab would have been better, something mimicking a 59-60 Elco
I always thought root beer was what we called ginger ale, or ginder beer.. Ginger also being a root of course.
But recently when I tried an A&W root beer at a local American Diner, I was surprised to find that it's what we label as sarsaparilla. Which is better.. I like sarsaparilla.
