Malc,Originally posted by malc View PostI´m clueless as to what this note on a recent import purchase means....
Possibly means there is no "CE" on the package. I shipped a woodworking machine to Europe and had to attach a statement that the machine was made in the 1950s and did not conform to "CE" (European Union standards).

thanksgiving.
a real deal for me.
new england born..and a mystery unnamed native in our oldest record (1812).
must be a peaceful bunch i come from.
forgot to take photos.
Before shutting the truck off this evening... thought of a quick one, without getting out of the seat.
I suppose I am thankful for steel and irons and the otto cycle.
gears and whining and tires and fourth stroke fires.
shiny ice in the sun.
I finally did get home after a good meal.. I never mention my ride from the woods.
I get on my headphones to find a sound my truck did not make.
I am sure someone puts it all together.

I picked it up for almost the same money, lol. It had not moved in 17 years, and the dumb thing FIRED UP AND IDLED with just a fresh battery and a capful of gas in the carb. Even drove it up to where it was more trailer-accessible, though the brake lines are goners.
Am deciding on if it is to be merely an engine donor, or if someone wants to save it. Title is clear, rockers are too. The rest is pretty solid.
Need to find something to block the Air Injection ports on the stainless exhaust manifolds. Someone tried pipe plugs and a couple didn't take. Proprietary threads there?

20 years ago I celebrated my 29th birthday 4 wheeling at Reiter pit in a 66 Nissan Patrol. Things didn't go so good as you can see. It was a cold wet ride home. I still own this heap?Comment

I just set the camera down on a sand pile. Wasn't sure what I was getting. Katahdin is in the background.. this is a screenshot of a video clip... blind clip.
I did get some shots.. had to play with lighting to see the hill.
I live about 5 miles from this spot.
straight line would be more like 3 maybe 4 miles.
in fact, the thermostat just opened turning onto this road.
we hit 9f last night.
this valley has separated lagrange into records, like clayton lake gets.. many times.
it is incredible when that phenomena passes through.
I have seen high 20s below zero...still as the sky.
We made the news once in the late 80s.. into the mid 30s below sitting still.
all furnaces shut down on my street.
no one panicked.
I think of these people... they were living there then.
they are all deceased.
we moved here in 1987..my family was all moved, but me, by 1991.
barbara turner
danny turner
crystal turner
timothy turner (just this past summer - his last post was a rant on killing ISIS - he was a marine.)
the four above, they lived a hundred feet from me, across the street.
one neighbor up..
bob and his wife, very old mobile home. We liked him for how he fixed his cars when we were kids. sloppy mechanics would get a kick out of it.
further up the road..
james french
james french jr
the wife and mother
my grandmother
my uncle
my friend joes mom.
john drake (he ran the store with his waife -today it is called "lagrange general")- he did live to get old. He also had a great income.
his wife
Thale Brackett.
I was an odd one, my brother as well...and my dad.
what we did with cold, without being a hefty lardass.
I knew we were north somehow...in the genes.
i learned genealogy years later. Should be proud.. because it aint luck.
only two people in the list above, were beyond age 60.
tim and james jr, and thale.. we grew up with them. just a year or two apart. one made it to 30s, one to 40s.
Thale was my closest, we were roommates for a time, just after turning 21.
he announced he was going to die in his sleep...said it while drunk . We both were young and learning our tolerance for brewskies.
I said, "I am the war boy.. I am sure i'll be going first."
we tapped cans.
he died in his sleep, before the age of 40.
I last used a zippo in that apartment we shared, thale was the last one to fix it. I found it in a tin when I moved back here, going though my old stuff, unpacking. I walked up to the cemetery and found his grave. I left my zippo there. He fixed it last.
one of the russels, he went a bit crazy,he lived on the same street.
he went gangsta with marijuana, leading a double life.(I had no clue) I worked side by side with him for hours at the only mill on the street.
he made national news.
I know the environment took him out too,and left him alive with altered motivation.
I have been a disabled veteran for 21 years...now living back in this little town.
I have had 200 degrees at my face and 60 below at my feet at the same time... at 60000 feet and 550mph.
My leg disappears sometimes, but I know it is still there.
Shaking chuck yeagers hand has a different meaning for me today.. decades gone by..
Danny used to call me "barry bum". I was homeless at 17. A korean war vet used to bring me free food (rest in peace burt). I split would for Mr. houghton (rest in peace Jim).. he offered me a dodge with wooden sides once. "If you can get it out of the swamp, you can have it for 1300 dollars." Of course, that was insane. I have spotted this didge, just yesterday.. I want to stop and see if it is the 360 four speedit left off as in 1989-90.
Burt told me a story of his time on a bulldozer, and they were shooting at it.. not to kill, but playing with him. He kept right on plowing.
Some declared him famous. Danny called "burty bullshit."
he taught me something.
Be careful what you declare enemy. It will haunt you to a young death.
I'll be 45 in january.
I am alive.Last edited by Barry Donovan; November 28, 2017, 09:55 PM.Previously boxer3main

I really went on a chapter long rant in previous post..

I bought my first 80s subaru, remembering the Turners.
I am hardly caught up in what could be called dyslexia.
grandma got a certain look on her face when we talked. She thinks i have a story to tell.
she said that at a time when I did not know I had to eat food , no taste for water.
Down 30 pounds within weeks. disabled for life, line of duty.
I have triggers of memory, almost savant.. things repeating.
"you're a tall man" <- it has been said more times in casual conversation, or by the integrity of a doctor.
I meet others just like me... at 5 foot 9 or less.
thale and I, our young beer drinking episodes. He said that, the same night he announced he was going to pass in his sleep.
I wondered if there was a cloud that grabs people's heads...
and tall people, regardless of height.. they need to stay above it.Last edited by Barry Donovan; November 29, 2017, 08:04 AM.Previously boxer3main
