Snapped this yesterday in the field 50 yards east of my house. 1/2 mile behind us is one of only 3 Bald Eagle nesting pairs in our county, they have been there for several years now and that nest is HUGE. The nest is in one of those trees in the background.

Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.Comment

The neighbor found one this winter in the cow pasture down the road from our house. He called the game warden cause he was able to walk up to it. Poor guy was almost starved. I havent heard if they realeased back out yet or not.Comment

During the winter they hang out by the dams since it's the only areas with open water. You can usually see at least one or two soaring around on any given day. No idea how many there actually are, but I'm right by a state park and this area is very rural so there's all kinds of places for them to nest. Bears, wolves, coyotes, eagles, porcupine, deer, hawks... you name it, it's around here. Think there's even moose not far from here, and the occasional mountain lion.I'm probably wrongComment

There were 20-30 in a field feasting on rodents in fresh mown hay by Christmas Valley OR when the kid and I went to watch a derby.. We both were so awestruck neither of us took pics, we went back, but they had flown.. Those are big birds!Comment
