I really get a kick out of some of the masterpieces out there. You should have smelled the inside of it. Let's just say I left a handful of good parts in there.Jeff

Spent the day yesterday with the family in Phoenix. My wife decided it was a good idea to get another freaking dog..dont live together.....not my concern...so I said whatever and went along....I took us to Rudy's BBQ...not as good as the original in San Antonio but damn tasty....here we have mini-me demonstrating the proper way to enjoy pork ribs...

I hung out with my friend from work, Ken Hervert. We were going to the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pulls in Ravenna, NE. I stopped by his place to his truck first. His truck upgrades got put on the back burner as he heels from getting freight trained by one of his adolescent bulls. In reality, Ken is lucky to be alive.
Here is truck. It is a '73 Chevy long bed. The 4x4 class he runs requires the use of street tire
s.

The truck is powered by a 454 Ken built himself. Most guys in this class buy an engine from a builder. Not Ken. It has a SCAT crank, Oliver rods, and forged 14:1 pistons. Those are factory iron rectangular port heads that have been totally worked over. The cam is a solid roller with giant .800 lift and way out there duration. On top of the single plane intake is a big single barrel Pro Systems carb. In all it makes around 900 hp at 8000 rpm.

Ken ran a 4 speed last year, only using one gear. This year the plan was to use ProFab's transmission and transfer case. The trans only has forward and reverse.

The truck runs a Dana 60 front axle with Dana 70 outers. The rear diff is a GM military with 6-something gears.Last edited by Scott Liggett; June 15, 2014, 10:57 AM.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Freight-trained by a bull? No fooling he's lucky to be alive! Hope he heals fully, hearing that makes me cringe.......those are unpredictable large masses of muscle.
That pro-fab stuff is wicked-cool stuff. Its becoming semi-common to see their products under the dune-runners at Silver Lake.
Can't wait for the coverage!Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.Comment

Ken is a farmer/rancher as well as working at BluePrint Engines. He was trying to separate a few adolescant bulls from cows. This one challenged him a few times already. Ken made the mistake of turning his back on him. Not sure how he got hit by it, but he jacked up his shoulder real bad. Ken had his second surgery to reattach all four rotator muscles, several tendens, shoulder bone chips, etc. He is a tough bastard. Hasn't been taking any pain meds so he can drive.
That bull was sent to the meat packing plant that day.Last edited by Scott Liggett; June 15, 2014, 02:27 PM.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver
