A white body with a colored metal flake roof seems to be fairly popular.
Is it very prevalent at the Traditional shows Groucho ?
'Flake tops are very popular. But the bottom can be anything from rattle can primer to pearl paint. I think the 3 white cars pictured is coincidence. My friend bought the 60 Dodge from me 5 yrs ago when it was light green and started teaching himself body work. He refused to have another rattled black car, and did the opposite with the white. He left the top the light green. He thought it looked cool enough to step it up to a lime flake top with some rainbow in it. The 61 Olds with the scarlet flake top wears it's factory shiny white paint. The mid 50's Ford you see I don't have it's story. Now, this pic is from the same motel last year for the same show. (note the 57 Pontiac next to the 56 Ford truck with flake scalops is scarlet base-coat with scarlet flake roof and spears).

Ohhh! I see a Courier back there. Looks like it might be a 54. Nice. I like all those rods in the parking lot but the sparkly topped ones the best.

These cars are all bitchen but the coolest car in this pic has to be the Escort with the papered up side window. Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb. Actually, the 61 Olds with the red flake top if my fav in this pic. Just looks smooth........
