Re: New Schlitz!!!
Schlitz sponsored a couple awards at the Car Craft Show and I got to introduce the Gusto Girls onto the stage to hand out one of the trophies.
My dad is itching for this stuff to hit the shelves here in Boston...ok I am too.

Joe they are starting in a few key markets and then expanding. I'm actually surprised Boston isn't on the initial list, although they need to develop a supply chain and local distribution. It is funny how much buzz is surrounding this. It is amazing that a brand name that sat dormant for decades has people all excited about it's return.Originally posted by JRobertsWill it be distributed nation wide? I hope so.
By involving the old brewmasters to get the recipe correct it makes me think that these guys have their heads in the right place.
Don't drink too much though, the InBev may buy them too! ;D

Re: New Schlitz!!!
My old man lived on Schlitz back in the 60's out of steel cans until they were required to pastuerize the stuff. At that point, he started drinking Coors. I remember the old green steel Coleman cooler we used to have with a church key wired to one of the grab handles.

Re: New Schlitz!!!
Getting the original recipe is going to make a big difference. Pabst is doing the right thing, the old Schlitz was my first beer. By the '80's it was almost undrinkable, nasty crap. I doubt you will see the malt liquor come back, that was part of their downfall. Olde English and Colt 45 have that market covered. I pretty much stayed with whiskey and not a lot of that, through the years after '77 or so. Just the occasional beer.Originally posted by Brian LohnesJoe they are starting in a few key markets and then expanding. Now how about some Falstaff or Hamms? There's still some Stag around if you find a solid German community, get it ice cold on draft after bush-hogging a field and its love, sweet beer love. ;D But, its hard to beat a double shot of Old Granddad for the "evening ambiance" I just have to admit. I hope Schlitz gets back off the ground though.Comment

Falstaff! There is a name I haven't heard in awhile. I always liked the Hamm's bear, too.
Anyone remember Olympia beer? Is it still around?

I never drank the stuff, but they sponsored one of the coolest off road vehicles ever!

Re: New Schlitz!!!
I remember when the old closed down Falstaff brewery in Omaha reopened was brewing beer with generic cans that just said "BEER". My Dad used to buy it. He told me that it tasted exactly like the Hamm's beer he drank for so many years. I never would argue with the expert.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Re: New Schlitz!!!
My most vivid memory of Schlitz was in the mid to late 70's. My boss use to drink it, it was pretty nasty and no one around here drank it. So for our Xmas party my boss gives me money to go out and buy a case of it. When I asked for it at the local liquor store, the owner gruffly said I don't carry it because it doesn't sell...man I was happy! I think I bought Miller.TomOverdrive is overrated
