I'm going to have to agree.

I like the chin scaping, early Pro Stock look for those cars.

It's a wheel swap away from being a Donk with 32" wheels.

That olds is nasty...I am in love with that Nova....When I was about 12 I built a Nova Gasser from an AMT modle kit and it looked just like this car......I was interested to see who thought this was a major violation or cool

The nova is just a bit new for that build....if it had coil spring spacers in it instead of the axle, then it would be right. (the thing about Novas that I noticed in the 70s, is that no one who could only afford a Nova ever did things right)

The olds is not worth commenting.

Re: Who doesnt love this car?

Hey, taste is subjective....if YOU like it, great...if the owner/builder of that Nova likes it, that's all that matters.

Personally, I think the Gasser look is all wrong for anything past 1967(some will claim earlier).

I'd still buy that Nova if I had the funds.....although there's no way in hell I'd pay $8K for it in it's present condition....the "wrongs" are easily "right"-ed...if you're gonna run sans inner fenders, at least do a better job of tidying up lines, hoses and such.

Not just an aesthetic thing as it is SAFETY.

The big-block, the Cragars and the paint are what's RIGHT with this car...I'm hoping this has a 4-gear in it's proper place.

As for the Olds, man.......vision without supervision.

Re: Who doesnt love this car?

One thing is that lots of guys think anything with a straight axle is a "Gasser." Not really true. Gasser refers to being in the Gas classes of drag racing that existed from roughly '58 to '74. While rules varied during those years, it was basically a weight/ci class for cars that "resembled" street cars, thought hat requirement lessened as the years went by.

In the early years, Gassers were like stockers that had too many engine mods for the Stock classes. Later they turned into the straight-axle cars that so many people remember--the Willyses and the '55-'57s and later the small Studes and Anglias. Many purists feel that the Gasser classes started to go downhill in 1967 with the addition of "new" body styles such as the Ohio George fastback Mustang, as well as Opels and stuff.

On the other hand, many other non-Gasser cars has straight axles...like Match Bash cars (that had no NHRA-legal class to run) and early FX cars and Funny Cars.

Some street-machine guys continued with straight-axle cars into the '70s, but they are often awkward and not "pure" as far as history goes.

So you can like it if you want, but many people won't prefer a '70ish Nova done up that way because it has a connotation of dingle balls and bad murals rather than real racing of the '60s.

As a final example, Magnante's Nova seen below is not a "Gasser."

And my opinion on the Nova you asked about is that it could be cool if you added a front bumper, installed a tunnel ram with gold velocity stacks and some M/T or gold Moroso valve covers, and put some gold-leaf lettering on the door.
