IMO, bumper guards are a major violation when they get into the monster '72-up rammers. The factory ones earlier than that can be acceptable, but a car is almost always cleaner without.

Cop-car pushbars, however, are almost never a violation.

Yeah, the small bumper guards are usually visually inoffensive and look OK, particularly on that Caprice. The later ones where it looks like the bumper sprouted warthog tusks are pretty bad though.

Mine are staying inplace, and back in highschool regularly pushed shopping carts. ;D I say keep'em.

I have to say the 55 or 56 Chevy's with their monster over rides and cross bar really are butt ugly compared to the standard simple bumper.

Hey, SB, I used my 73 Caddy's to shove Kmart carts into the poles supporting the parking lot lights. Smashed several. They never left any in the parking lot after that night.

put them in box and label for future reference, some day they may be of value or even trendy - but for now leave them off .. just my humble opinion. The first thing I did to my 73 camaro was take the "Bumperettes" off , I think it cleaned the front end up but the purists will argue otherwise. Its your ride - do what makes you happy.

Man, Indy.....it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Myself, I think it looks fine with them on.

But, if you do decide to keep'em off, make certain to remove the guards from the rear bumper as well.

It's really hard to say, because you already have an
incredible looking car, but it does look cleaner without.

Clean is Mean, but some don't look bad, if they don't stick out TOO far.

Quite a few of my Cars have the Factory Bumperettes on them......since I tend to leave my virgin Cars 'Virgin',I'll leave 'em on. I DO however have a pair of Cars that have those aftermarket 'Warthog' add-on jobs. My '69 Le-Saber & my '73 Chevelle. The Chevelle looks brutal with them. Again,they were on there when I bought the Cars,so they'll stay . Still,imagine what a....say,...'an 80's Camaro or Firebird would look like with them :o......and YES,I've seen a few! ~OO6.

Indy, as the concensus shows, your car looks cleaner without, but the bumper guards you have are definately not uncool. Wear them if you want.
