    Best looking production car ever?

OK, the "best looking hot rod" thread fizzled a bit more than I'd hoped. Anyone a little more passionate about the best looking production cars?

    Let's hear your favorite year/make/model.

Interestingly, for me, I can't keep it that simple because I'll often like some examples and not others. Like, I loved MY '62 Biscayne, but I don't like all '62 Biscaynes. Also, like many of you, I like so many cars that it's hard to nail just one as my favorite. But when pressed, I claim '71 Road Runner. I've included a photo of the one I used to have, which is why I like them. Triple black, 440+6, four-speed. But I don't like ALL '71s, especially when guys add the front and rear spoilers (see on my old car? the next guy added the Go-Wing), and I don't like the higher-trim-level interiors.

this is one of my favorites, cant exactly explain why but I love the lines, the fins, the grill....

    1962 Chrysler 300

The 1968 Road Runner is also one of my favorites BUT I dont like them all...I like them in sedate colors, simple clean trim with stock rims (500's or steelies and caps) I dont like them lowered, tubbed, graphic coverd, bright colors or modified to the extreme....The simple clean lines are really obvious when the car is stock in appearance, when its been modified those lines are disrupted....

I'll contribute 2, not surprisingly both Buicks

      1965 Buick Riviera

      1965 Buick Wildcat

Honestly in general I think 1965 was a great year for GM and Ford styling overall though 1961 had its good stuff too.

I'm partial to '68 Chargers. The taillights are what seal the deal for me. I love 'em.

          Right here, baby!

There are a lot of other cars that look pretty good, such as the 32 and 34 fords, the early Road runners that Joe mentioned (the early 70s big boats don't do it for me), some of the vettes are very nice looking, even some 60s full size Chevys, and (surprise) some of the mid 60s Pontiacs. I'm picky.

Oh hell...this is gonna get ugly..

I have to agree, DF, I like the '71 B-bodies, though I personally like the Go-Wing on it (Not a fan of stripes/scoops/Elastomeric/chin spoiler). I prefer the Road Runner's rear quarter window to the Charger's.

Man....ok, here's the rest of the list:

FORD: '67-'68 Shelby GT Mustang. I like the Cougar/T-bird lights in the back, the nose looks more aggressive, and it has the overall Mustang look. Real hard to argue with it.

GM: I'm sure I'll catch some hell for this, but the '78-'82 A-bodies, esp. Malibu. Sized right, still useful as a family car, has all the potential for the muscle that the name should inspire, clean lines, styling isn't too dated. Close runner ups here included the G-bodies, 2nd Gen Camaro and the tri-Fives.
            Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

any of the tri 5's (55-56-57) really partial to the drop top 57's, if you look at the cars of that era, wow steel prices were cheap than.

and labor costs were even cheaper! No way they could afford to make cars like that today...now they gotta be designed so they can be built by machines in just a few operations.

My '63 Falcon Futura Hardtop, but that's just me. I always wanted one since I saw mine when I was about 8 years old. I know it's not everone's cup of tea, but I love just looking at it.

As far as most beautiful/best looking, I nominate the Jaguar D type.

If I had to drive one car the rest of my life I think I'd make it this one:
1969 Firebird with the standard 400 hood.

Here are a few scanned pictures of my old one: http://members.aol.com/thesilverbuic...1969_Firebird/

That Riviera is definately a good pick for a cruiser.

                    For Late Model:

                    It's the hood,
                    Escaped on a technicality.

My favorite from the muscle car era is definitely the '68 Charger too. Dodge really got that one right.

There were some really beautiful Dusenburgs, but whether those could as production cars is debatable. How about a Cord 810?

It's tough to pick just one, but I'd likely choose one of these:

There's always something new to learn.

My all-time favorite is the '70 Boss 302 Mustang... fourth car in (from left). I owned two of 'em. The second ride appears to be a 429 Torino GT, with a shaker hood scoop. Had one of those too. It's hard to not notice the Grabber Blue Boss 429 in the first slot!!
