My exhaust consists of fenderwell headers feeding 3 1/2" pipes to Pypes mufflers and then exit before the wheel with turndowns. No way to get an X or H pipe without lowering the exhaust (it sits beside the frame rails). Pretty loud. (WHAT???) You really can't talk that much unless you yell in the truck. As for sound deadening, I use some heat padding on the firewall and the floor is mostly undercoated.

BTW- moving the pipes out of the trans tunnel and outboard of the frame rails really cooled things off in the truck for some reason. My mufflers are now directly under my seat as opposed to behind the cab, but it is still much cooler.
Why think when you can be doing something fruitful?

I bought some adhesive backed hvac duct wrap at lowes that I am yet to put in the floor boards of my chevelle. Its about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick, it shinny on the carpet side but the adhesive side is gray. I thought about putting some spray on adhesive on the floor boards before I put it down. Do you guys think it will block some of the heat out? My feet just cook, but of course right now I don't have anything but bare floor boards.

3" all the way out, with H pipe. Layer of cool it acoustical mat with a layer of dynaliner on top of that, throughout the entire car. Yes time consuming and alittle pricey, but well worth it long term. I really think the H pipe helps with alot of the exhaust noise. I would venture to say my car is one of the most tolerable inside, noise and heat wise for a 10.50 car.

Cup holders in the console and a bunch of sound deadener. Sound deadener isn't helping much.

Exhaust turned out by rear tire, sucks on the highway.

Yes it will, and it'll block noise. You don't need to spray adhesive, it should stick just fine if you use a roller to press it down. I use it on all my cars. I do use adhesive on it if I'm sticking it to a roof or vertical surface.

I just use an electric cutout. Quiet enough to drive past a church when closed; the loudest most obnoxious car on the street when open.

SEERED has Dynamat everywhere inside including firewall, entire floor, behind door panels, kick panels, wheel tubs etc. Exaust is all 4 inch with V-band clamps at the collector, no X pipe, Borla 4 inlet and outlet mufflers and turn downs directed down and out at the 4 link crossmember. Moderately loud. No cup holders but would like some.

Doc's car is surprisingly quiet inside compared to the noise outside. His audio system takes care of any noise making it past the dynamat. Seered is actually very comfy cruising.

. My boat still has all the factory sound deadening in it. Plus new rug and padding under the rug. With a 3.5 in 3 out x pipe and Magnaflows with 3 inch tailpipes you can conversate or listen to tunes at a low leek even on the highway.. Just because it goes single digits doesn't mean I have to travel like it...

Copilots Doug and Tom have always seemed to sleep very well during road cruise segments. We often got lost due to navigator unconsciousness

I was trying to get my car light one winter, after the cage was just installed, i took all the factory sound deadener out before putting the rug back in. That summer the car was pretty miserable to drive. It turned into a giant heat sink, and i had 3'' straight thru mufflers dumped right at the axle. The next winter, i installed FatMat(close to dynamat, half the price), and put tailpipes on the car. Those two things changed the comfort of the car 100%. Not worth trying to save weight in those areas to me. I must be getting old.

Lizardskin is essentially ceramic microspheres mixed with latex paint. The spheres are available cheap from places like this, a quart for 6 or 7 bucks:

mix that in with some latex paint and roll / brush it out.
There's always something new to learn.

This stuff ain't exactly rocket science......I just wish I was the one to think up the marketing for LizardSkin. Cheap inputs and huge markup = Happy Retired Stineys.
