    Re: Bonneville Roll Call

I'm on the fence about going. I have a hotel room with 2 doubles. I can afford to go, but I'm not sure if I can afford not to work for the 1.5 weeks it takes to get there and back and all the time in between....

I'm about to have a whole lot more on my plate than I previously accounted for at work, so I'm going to have to play it by ear. You know I'd love to crew for the little white freight train though.

      David,
I hear you. I'd also love to crew for the little white freight train and would be happy to relieve you of hotel reservations if you can't make it. Let me know.

Because all you bastards are like vultures circling waiting for my death, I just canceled my reservation at the hotel. I was going to auction it on ebay, but I figured that would be to sleezy. ;D

Will do, as the week gets closer I'll get more details, I've never been to Wendover.

I will be going, but only as a spectator this year. We have a group of about 30 friends and family coming from about 20 miles south of Seattle. Our group is bringing a lakester, modified pickup, and a gas coupe.

A guy here at work says I should just take a tent and camp out there. Anyone have experience with this at Bonneville? Is it even allowed?

My brother did it and enjoyed it. However, he said that it gets surprisingly cold at light, so prepare accordingly. I HATE to camp, so I'm the wrong guy to ask.

Oh I'm all to familiar with hot days and cold nights, both from living at 6500'+ and plenty of camping year round in school.

Many people camp on the entrance road at a place known as "the bend in the road". Folks pull off the side in RV's or pitch a tent. The temps at night during speedweek very seldom get below the 60's but we do get wind & rain storms that can come up very quickly so be aware. You don't want to be off the road serface too long in the rain or you might spend more time there than you planned.

As a side note I fired the engine and ran it through the gears on the 4th (my own little firewoks show) so that part of our program is ready. We still have lots of other things to do to get ready to go but we'll be there.

There are very few people in this world who's opinion I value, you are not one of them.

Ok cool. I'll bring a tent and sleeping bag and worse case scenerio I cruise on back home, or if I hang out too late to ride home I just pitch the tent. Thanks. I can't wait to get there, maybe wednesday or thursday I'll take a trip out there as a look around.

You can look us up and one way or another you'll get a bed or a floor or the back of a truck somewhere.
