    wow.

every engine could do at least three.
    2 banks and an average.

I just spent too much on one mtx-l..but it was a time and place.
    uses the same sensor anyway.

I agree, but I read DG saying he spent about the same money on the cobbled up mess that he put together, so maybe it's not to far out of line..... I did some searching and found the Edelbrock one for around $1800...... I guess if you had a shop and was dynoing motors, these would be a good tool to have.....

          That's bullshit TC...cobbled up mess!?

So now you're just the fishing troll, eh.

I was really starting to appreciate your productive turn, but once an asshole, always an asshole.

Relax Bob, I saw what the guy put together, it is nowhere as organized as these kits are, sorry I didn't use a "PC" way of describing it..... sheesh..........

How could you have seen it, or known how it worked? I didn't see you at any of our dyno sessions or the competition.

Yes, my response may be considered a bit extreme, but I take it as an affront that someone, who has no real knowledge of the effort made by any member of the team, nor understands the technology that was created at a time when that technology wasn't available to our level, calls a brilliant piece of work a "cobbled up mess." The products that you referenced can't do what our "cobbled up mess" can do.

I'm affronted and pissed. As the Team Leader, after Danny died, I'm proud of all the work done on that engine, one that the editors of PHR called "the most technologically advanced..." at the event.

              So suck on it, TC.

Wrong on both counts. Both of those kits will require some way of getting the displays all mounted and organized not to mention they require four power supplies and with split screens on the paired displays it will be harder to monitor them sensibly in real time. Having actually tuned an engine on the dyno with DG and the eight AFR set-up I can tell you that the real work comes from analyzing the data-logs after the fact and making fine incremental changes. During the dyno pulls we watched the two collector AFR's and the eight EGTs as best we could. Typically with four pairs of eyes including the dyno operator.

DG's set-up is compact, easily transportable and adaptable to many engine configurations. Last but not least you need a set of headers with bungs in the right locations at as close to identical distances from the valve as possible; straight forward on dyno headers, really tricky on actual in car headers.

To Bob's point you might want to re-read Scott Ligget's thread.

Lets just say pics are worth a 1000 words......... As for the editors of the mags, I'm starting to believe they don't know much, I've even asked DF about stuff, his response, I've never seen that before......

And realize I'm not bagging on you guys, you guys did a wonderful job, and by the way those other two systems, they're cobbled up messes to......

Who cares what it looks like? When I started doing it three years ago, nobody made "kits"

Screw ten bucks! I'll put a nice crisp $100 bill down!

Its was the most technologically advanced engine there hands down as what Holmes mentioned. It is in print if anybody would like to reread that LOL! I thought it was cleaned up pretty good given the amount of things we were monitoring.

TC - I made a living in part doing lab instrumentation - I was NOT the electronics guy but often made cabinets, mounted instruments, etc. Part of the gig. This stuff starts out pretty funky and slowly gets refined. If Scott's set up is transportable (and it is) that speaks volumes about it being robust and pretty well developed for it's purpose. Beta lab systems typically can't be jostled or something will stop working.

So he has a good system and no doubt it will be even more refined as time goes along.

Like others have said, the 8 channel units now available commercially are likely in need of more development to function as needed. We had ours tied to a VERY powerful computer with several specialized interface boards - worked great but you don't want to know the price tag. Getting old is a pain - darn if I can remember the name of the interface system!
